Thanks

That's odd, maybe their website isn't as up to date as it should be.

Ok got the Ford part # from FREAKO. Seems that Ford Racing is behind on this item, but the Ford dealership can get it next day.

Ford part # E9TZ4851A

I haven't found one on Bryant Motorsport ebay listings. Would there be a reason not to go with Fords, and wait it out for the Ford Racing one?

the ford oem ranger one would be fine. they are really strong and i've never seen a companion flange break like the old yokes used to.

That's not bad, are you having gears installed at the same time?

If you had done the driveshaft and gears at the same time you could have saved yourself from paying for installation twice.

I asked that prior to heading over to get them installed. The installer said it would of only been a $20 difference.

From alot of personal experince CF shafts are worth every dollar. But yes the are very expensive. Main differences are they are lighter the alum units and at least the ones I got form PST are internally balanced. All the units I got were direct bolt ins and completely reduced vibration issues with our 99 and 01 cobras.

im pretty sure that the aluminum ones for the s197 weigh the same or less than the cf one. both weigh almost exactly 20lbs, compared to 45 or so stock. the cf one probly eliminates more vibration though, and is advertised to handle more power (and looks cool as f*ck!)

The biggest advantage with a carbon fiber driveshaft is if a U-joint or flange breaks the driveshaft won't destroy the underside of you car, as soon as the shaft starts bouncing off of things it will start to come apart and fray.

I built (or had it built) one of the ranger shafts based on Spyders input several months back. I have had no problems with vibration or balance. In fact I can't even tell a difference. Agreed it is probably a stronger set-up but I can't say I really see a difference at the track. I run an 1/8th mile and maybe it needs a 1/4 to shave those 2tenths. And no question I am not race set up like Spyder. At least if I have a failure I can pull the thing out much quicker. And it really turned out to be a very nice piece.
