Well, obviously the 347 is going to be better for drag.. added cubes means added power, etc. Also, the 347 will be less reliable than the 302. Not saying that 347's arent reliable becuase they are but they stock 302 is obviously not taking as much abuse. And the gas mileage will also be worse with the 347..obviously. It also depends on how you build it... are you building it for the street? strip? etc.

Just do the 347 so you have no regrets.

I don't think that you can have a streeter/daily driver and run 12's in a car that still gets 18-20 MPG, if the MPG is real important to you don't mod anything.
A 306 can easily get you into the 12's however.......

I bet my 347 will get at least 18 when it's done...she gets 24 now, used to get 33 with 2.73s...

A 306 that's built good will get into the 12s along with suspension and driveline upgrades and good tires.

It'll take a lot of suspension work and chassis stiffening in addition to an H/C/I and bolt ons, but 12's might be obtainable.

I was gonna recommend a 331. It has a rod ratio closer to a 302 so it's more dependable, but you still have some added cubes. No replacement for displacement.

...or just go w/ a 351 and call it a day.

Ah...some guys think they came from their mothers vagina able to do H/C/I swaps. But other, lesser people like us have to learn to do things.
