There is a new state law being voted on in Mass that would make it illegal to modify your exhaust in any way. THIS MEANS THE ONLY EXHAUST PARTS THAT YOU CAN HAVE AND NOT BREAK THE LAW ARE WHAT WAS ON THE CAR WHEN IT LEFT THE FACTORY! Here is where you can read about it in detail. http://musclemustangfastfords.com/hotnews/mmfp_0603_massachusetts_exhaust_bill/

Ok... thank God I'm not from Massachusetts, I think that is absolutely absurd.... your car, your money... it's none of their business... unless what you're doing is hurting someone else... which I mean how could that.....

I most definitely could be wrong...

But the last time I heard of MASS auto laws...they were not required to wear seat belts. I read something a while back that eluded to their state slogan, WHICH IS QUOTED ON THEIR LICENSE PLATES, "Live Free Or Die!". Apparently, wearing seat belts restricted their freedom and that's how they were able to bypass what the rest of the country was able to enforce.

Yet they want to ban efficient exhaust????

Go Figure!

I want to see what they are going to do with vintage cars that you can not get a factory exhaust system for..."I'm sorry Mr. Smith, but I have to give you a ticket since your bone stock 1940 Ford's muffler does not have a Ford logo on it"

Mass must be full of politicians...just saw on yahoo where they are passing a law to make Health Insurance Mandatory....if you can't afford it it will be provided.....if you can and don't have it you will pay a yearly tax penalty until you get it and if you already have it you might seem a small decrease in your premiums.......think I'll stay where I'm at.......

laws like this are just meant to give cops probable cause to pull you over, it won't be enforced unless you are being a pain in somebody's eardrum

this is one of the dumbest things I've read on any forum. people have been putting aftermarket exhausts on cars for YEARS. this includes imports, bikes, domestics, and whatever else. besides, whether you think it sounds good or not doesn't matter. I love a nice sounding 4 cylinder exhaust just as much as I love the rumble of a nice sounding V8 exhaust.

it's none of their business... unless what you're doing is hurting someone else I totally agree. Such a law would be complete nonsense unless you are really hurting someoone's ears or something.

the imports is really why all of these new laws are being started... cops here dont look at you twice if you drive a mustang or other v8 and your kinda loud but they dont like and will pull over a import for loud exhaust. i mean i have hondas come up to me and they friggen hurt my ears with that loud weedwacker sound its really an annoying piercing sound...

"Live Free Or Die" is the motto for New Hampshire, not Mass. Massachussets is, "If you can dream it, we can tax it".

Well, the more socialist are nation becomes, the more the left will want to control all are personal thoughts and actions, just as everyone claims the right does. Eventually we'll all be waiting in line for toilet paper, and your own children will be reporting your behavior to their school techers, since eduacation and federal and state agencies have already become an absurd testing ground for socialist communist rules and regulations. Trans gender bathrooms will become the norm, and true logic and fairness for everyone will soon be taken over by a game of who can deconstruct sociey the fastest. Thankfully, while are automotive freedoms last, we should all make are cars as fast as they can possibly be, and as masculine as you wish, since that male attribute will soon be outlawed for hetrosexual males forever, while the other two catagories will retain their rights to that word and be encouraged to display it in any form they wish.
Please, everyone, this year, could we try to make our Mustangs as much about what we love as we can. Before all things fun go the way of the dodo bird. Just a thought, Erik

Not sure if it's passed yet or if the cop just wanted to get on my case.. I few years ago I believe back in 03 I owned an import with a fart can in the back, and I got pulled over for it, and the officer told me that it "Was" Illegal to have an altered exhaust, not sure if he was referring to the state of mass or just the town in Marlboro, but apparently I got a verbal warning and told me to take it off or I'd get a $150.00 ticket the next time, but now that I own the Mustang I haven't gotten sh** from the police, Weird isnt it.. LOL... I hope that law doesn't come into effect, because that would be absolutly stupid, and I know a few of u have mentioned that aftermarket exhausts improve performance of the cars and they are sometimes built better than stock and what not. On a personal note, I think we should be able to do whatever we want to our cars as long as it isn't hurting anyone, then it shouldn't be a problem. Just my 2 cents.

Old old old news.

This link makes it's rounds yearly.

Anything louder than stock is considered illegal in MA anyways.

The decibal limit is roughly 90db from a certain distance, 12 feet or so?

The health insurance law only applies to businesses with employees, they are required to offer Health Insurance now or else they can get stiff fines. I think it is actually a good thing for the workers.
