I've read many reccomend the 3.7's for manuals and 4.1's for autos. Anyone here with 4.1's on the manuals, if so does the different become an annoyance in shifting more often or is the different negligible. What would you all reccomend.

Sorry for being a loser and not knowing... What is the difference? I hear everyone talking about "gears" but still am clueless here...still new to most of this stuff. Could someone please explain or point me twards somewhere were i can?
I have 4.10's in my manual car. It would be perfect if you ran a slightly taller tire than stock. The perfect gear is a 3.90, which adjusting tire size with 4.10 is possible. For example, you will increase the overall tire when going to a 20" rim most likely. It is at 3000rpm at 80mph in 5th gear.
ina way yes... more rim diameter takes more hmpff to get moving, 4'10 will help you
and to the topicposter, rearend differential numbers are relative to the amount of turns your pinion rotates relative to your crown.... its a underdrive (AKA increase in torque)

on 4.1's though, I know the gear ratio is set higher so correcet if i'm wrong but that just means that your traveling faster in the lower rpms? How do 4.1's help on the highway? city?
ok as far as i understand...the 4.1's have more top end power and the 3.7's are more low end? i used to have a rice eater...we just cared about boost and the right tune to make power not gears! EXPLAIN!

I believe it's exactly the opposite. 4.10's will give you higher rpm's at speed (but a killer take-off) thus reducing your top speed.
3.7's or 4.1 on a manual
