Do you mean only 2006 models? My car was probably in the low $20k's (of course you would have to adjust for 4 years of inflation) and if your car is basically a GT than I could give you a good run. I raced an '05 GT and pulled on him a bit at the top end. I'm almost totally stock.

LS1 trans am/camaro. those things are mean, and will give you one hell of a run for your money, we're talkin 325 hp stock underrated. also, the new LS2 GTO would probably pull you........since your auto, you probably wont be able to keep up with a stock LS1..........but nothing a few bolt on's cant fix

I hear the LS1's are takin the new Stangs... but just about a car... if you're stock (non stage 3) with an auto, you have no chance vs the 6liter GTO if the guy has the slighest idea how to drive...

yea LS2 is also under-rated at like 400hp/400ft-lbs torque i think? i heard they also put out quite a few more ponies than advertised. they also get near 30mpg on the highway!

the 5spd auto tranny is leaps and bounds faster than a bad driver with a stick, and between 1 and 2 tenths slower at the track than an average/above-average stick driver. from a roll i completely agree with you, but from the people i know with ls2 gtos or that know people with them that have been to the track, those cars are not very easy to launch...so it very well could be a decent race from a dig.

personally, ive never come across a new gto, either engine, that could keep up with me very well. then again, i dont hardly ever run into gto's, and i am most def not stock. an equally modded one should def walk me, at least i hope so.
