Default Kenne Bell Install

It's been a fun 3 days.

There were more parts not shown but you get the picture. Took 40 Hours for me and a buddy to install. Whew.

Gutted

She's pretty ugly with her makeup off.

Biggest part of the install was relocating the existing parts. Everthing from wiring harnesses, intakes, cooling lines, fuse box.... The list seemed to never end. There was a total of about 400 steps from start to finish.

The intake had to be relocated in the fenderwell next to the headlight. Had to do some cutting for this part. She gets nothing but fresh air now.

Finally done. I can't believe that this was the same engine a few days before.

I have been contemplating a K/B setup. How are you're performance gains, ease of install and any unforseen issues? What boost are ya running? Bang for the buck? Thanks for the feedback in advance.

Yeah, it's funny cause when it's installed it looks like a pretty basic kit but when those two boxes first arrive..... it is huge and looks like sooo much stuff...lol

It was overwhelming how much stuff came. I originally thought it was going to take me a day, day and a half. Guess I was thinking of a some other brand because it wasn't even close. The install wasn't all that difficult but there is just so much stuff to be done that it made it tedious at times. I would do it again if I had to. I went with inter-cooled model with the 8psi pulley. I also got 3 of their gages, which aren't the greatest quality but work just fine, I got the standard "Power" tune and a "Shootout" tune and I also bought 9 and 10 psi pulleys. A pulley swap takes about 2 or three minutes and there is no retuning required, you just have to ensure that you are running enough octane to handle the additional boost. I haven't dyno'ed it yet so I don't know what my numbers are but I can spin the tires at 55mph. I also got a set of slicks that I am anxious to try at the track. I am keeping her a total sleeper and looking forward to taking down a Cobra or two who think I'm easy prey. Its the little things that count.

Oh Man, I want one, looks like a good project for next winter, was the kit complete anything else that you needed to have that didn't come in the kit?

Very nice! I'd also like to know if there were any issues w/ the install not covered in the installation manual. Oh and could you tell me what type of plugs you switched to?

Thanks!

The kit is complete, 2.4L/450-850HP Potential at 6-25psi, under bumper cool air system, 93mm Cobra MAF, K&N Filter, Valet Mode Boost Bypass, Self Lubricated, 8 Rib Pulleys, Boost-A-Pump, and all the hardware. The install manual was very thorough but there were a couple of step that had me scratching my head and a few others that had me throwing stuff across the garage. One of the more confusing things was that a step tell you to install bracket such and such here using xxx-xxx bolts. The problem was that none of the bags were labeled and in some cases, not all the parts needed for the bracket step would be in the same bag. So I had to go hunting for xxx-xxx bolt and hope that these were the ones the manual was talking about. It was like the biggest model I ever put together without the little number tabs to tell me if I had the right part or not. All in all though, with the number of parts that I have purchased and the instructions that came with them (if they even had any), this was by far the most thorough and comprehensive install guide I have seen. I can only imagine what the manuals must look like on some of the cheaper superchargers. The level of information that KB makes available is one of the reasons that I went with a KB. I had been planning, months ago, to get a Procharger. I liked the KB but I thought it was a bit expensive and I was hesitant to have a constant displacement SC because I already had traction issues with the 4.10 gears in a slightly modded stock engine. I was thinking an extra 100lbs of torque would aggravate this even more. After a considerable amount of research, tech articles, talking to people and cruising websites I ended up changing my mind in favor of a KB for a few different reasons. First off, there is very little info on the Procharger, especially for the 05. I couldn't get a feel for it. KB has tons of info. I read an article on superchargers and it pointed out a couple of things also. It stated that twin screws (ts) are better suited for heavier vehicles such as trucks than a centrifugal. At 3800lbs+ the 05 could go either way so I felt there might be an advantage in having the constant boost. They also stated that TS's are better suited for automatics (didn't really explain why). Another thing had to do with where I live> Las Vegas. It had to do with the difference between an air to air or a air to water inter-cooler. "If you are in Phoenix and it is 110 degrees out, the coolest your air-charge can possibly get is 110 degrees(in a perfect world) . At least with an air to water, you can put I cube in when you have too". The final reason was simply that the KB supercharger looks exactly like what a supercharger is supposed to look like. I am planing on being in a few shows so I paid the extra $650 for the polish job and it is absolutely stunning. I just couldn't see the Procharger having the same effect or appeal as the KB. The total price tag for everything that I got was just over $6700 (no tax). When it came time to finally fire up my mustang after the install, everything worked exactly how it was supposed to. I couldn't be happier so I'm going to go with, "You get what you pay for". I want the best.

I will be switching to the HT0 instead of the stock HT1 plugs. KB recommends going going to a plug thats "one range cooler". They are very difficult to find so far. Due to something with the patent that Ford has on the plug design, only Autolite makes them right now. You also have to get a funky tool to gap them properly as well.
