I am new to this forum and i don't know how you guys feel about Vette's. I am not a big fan of Chevrolet, which is why i prefer Ford but, I just wanted to know how you guys feel about the new C6 Corvette....i actually think it looks pretty good, better than the generic looking C5. From what i here it has pretty decent performance to....opinions?

Vettes have for the majority of their existence had pretty good performance. For the money they better have pretty good performance, which is why I like mustangs. They are reasonably priced and for not much money you can have an awesome car. I wish Ford would spend more time on suspension design though. I haven't seen a price for the new mustang but I think with the performance it's going to have it will be the best since the emissions controls screwed everything up. We're going to be getting a lot of bang for the buck. To answer your question I think the C6 is cool but I would like to own the Ford GT way much more. But, I can't afford either so what does it matter.

C6 = 400hp in a base model form. You can prob pick one up for 50K. You can't beat that. You can always re-sell a Vette for almost as much as you bought it. If you keep it long enough, you can sell it for more. The '05 GT is coming with 300hp but is packin on some more weight. It's not going to be much faster than the current GT's. The supercar GT is a great car. It's 150K+ though.....next ZO6 is "supposed" to be faster and it will be less than 70K.

You're proving my point, 50k is a lot of money. If you pick up an Mustang for about 25K and dump 20 to 25K into you're going to have a serious car. Vettes are extremely cool cars, especially the Z06, but that's a lot of money.

If you pick up a Pinto for $32 and put $20-25K into it, you're going to have a serious car. There's no logic there. That is a lot of money. But in the end you're not getting a Mustang or a F-body, you're getting a Vette. If you just want to go fast, get a used LS1, change the stock 10 bolt, throw in some 4.10's, get some slicks and welcome the 11 second passes with basically no mods. The only really good reason to get a Vette over a f-body or a Mustang, is the re-sale value.

You're right. If I could afford a Vette I would be much less likely to hammer it like I do my Mustang. I've got at the most $2,000 in my car. It's relatively fast and I have a lot of fun with it. That's exactly what most of us are looking for a fast car for as little money as possible. With those criteria My Mustang would beat a new Vette hands down. If you want a fast car with AC and cruise control that you can drive every day that will keep its resale value then you wouldn't even consider my car. The logic is if you want a fast car for less money you don't buy a Vette you buy a Mustang or even a Camero. If you wanted a car that would handle well for the lest amount of money you would buy the Camero instead of the Mustang. If you have a bunch of money and want a car that handles great and goes fast and is more likely to win a road race you buy a Vette. It all depends on what you need out of a car. Then of course there is always that brand loyalty thing.

You can put money into a stang and an F-body to beat the Vette on straight line runs, but the best thing about the C5 is its great handling. Drive one to its limits and you'll see. No offense to my Stang, but it is a rubber band compared to my old C5. C6 promises to be even better.

Compared to a C6, the Saleen doensn't have a chance going straight or turning.

Since i own a GT, roomate owns a Ws6, and other roomate own a z06 i think my opinion about this would be similar to 95LT1's..
If you had $60k sitting in your savings account, getting a z06 would defanitely be the right choice ..
get a 04 z06 for $50k .. drive it for 3 yrs (and trust me they are so much fun to drive) and sell for 38-37K ..
which means you only spent around $14K max. to drive a z06 for 3 yrs.... wow this sounds so tempting ...

The z06, sadly, owns any mustang basically unless its s/c or has some stroking and camming. The c6 is only going to get better-they're improving the near perfect suspension and upping the hp a bit i think...
BUT, I can't afford a 50k+ car, nor woudl I ever spend that much on a car.... I still see the corvette as an automatic, rich white man car that thinks he needs the car to get some lovin'

Maybe If I had that gay image out of my head Id warm up a little to it, plus I lost hardcore to a z06 on the freeway this afternoon...

If you can afford a Vette, typically you're already well enough off to not have to worry about money. They're NOT at all unatainable. $50k for that much power and handling isn't that bad a price, considereing you are getting a collector car. You're right, the C6 is getting a 400hp LS2 engine. Should be fun, I can't wait to see the next ZO6.

Not to be an ass and do the typical "comparison" But I bought my car for 7k, put in roughly 4k and have over 400hp. But, im not bashing the vette, we all know deep down its a fast car and handles like crazy... and I'f I had one given to me, I'd glady accept it

Well I understand, that's all true. But hell, you can by a **** can for $500, put $5,000 worth of mods into it, have it run 11's. At the end of the day, all it's good for is ****ting in though. See my point.

Wow, that was quite possibly the dumbest thing ever. You must be very incoherant to not have comprehended any of my above post. We could do that all day. I paid 5700 for my LT1. With $50K to spend, it'd be a hella lot faster than ANY 302 or 281 EVER. But hey, that's not the point I'm trying to make.

And no, $6K in mods would NOT make any Stang faster AND handle better than a ZO6. You may be faster, but you won't handle as well, or vice versa.

I don't know why this is so HARD to comprehend. Maybe education has a lil to do with it?

well dumb ass....I would have a handling stout running stang..see I do all my work myself ..not have it done like youself also with that money I would have a new truck and a used trailer..see my point more for my $$$$$..2k in mods on the suppension it would be right there as I have seen this at alot of tracks..as for as straight line would be no problem ,so I would work more on the handling aspect....oh and the education...not that your smarter when you take your car to jiffy lube to change the oil..

Oh ya, I'm uneducated b/c I don't put a new engine in my car all bymyself....I guess that means pretty much every Priesident, religious figure, NASA techs, celebrities, Bill Gates, etc....are all ****s? Maybe I should just grow a mullet, buy a trailor and work on MY own cars....Basically you're a **** retard who has no concept of the point I'm trying to prove. Please God, get an education before trying to argue with me. Basically, I'm going to bring you up to my level and beat you with intelligence.
