An "undisclosed" source from Saleen whispered to me that the following numbers apply for the new 281 EXTREME -

0-60mph in 4.3 seconds

1/4 mile in 12.1 seconds

I'd had guessed it to be around 4 secs and 12 secs previously. Those are darn-near Viper numbers.....gotta give that two-thumbs up!

It will do better than that with a good driver. Look for a sub 12 run in the near future.

Yeah I'm think more in the lines of 11.7-12.2----with 4 -4.2 0-60

i think we a little more pratice I would run 12.2-12.4

I've been running 12.5 Im think with a little more tweek (im only running 4lbs of boost ) ill get there

Or I can wait till I get my engine swap and my Kb then I should be running high 10's ----------I hope

Those extremes are going to be sweeeeeet

The 0-60 seems a little slow. Traction limited maybe? 5.0 ran a standard SC to a 4.4 0-60 on a pre-production vehicle. The quarter seems about right, somewhere 11.8-12.1.

I have no doubt there are guys here that will run faster drag times. People need to remember that a Saleen is a sports car, not a drag specific vehicle(road race oriented suspension). It rides well, corners well, accelerates well and looks killer. The 06 E will be a collectors items as well. The original numbers are still really fast for a street car. How many times will you actually use it to its maximum on the street safely?

I would imagine the problem is hooking up. Lots of people have issues with a SC Mustang hooking with 400-450 HP, let alone 550! Also its probably on Street tires and 20's

Jonsey, I couldn't agree more that Saleens are a sports car, no matter what others think. And when have you seen a Saleen sponsored Drag car... Never so you're right again on it not be a drag car, but everyone measures performance that way. Kind of like "how much can you bench?" is the overall determining factor of how strong you are

Demarcom, I love the bench press analogy.

I understand why people measure performance they way they do. My comment was to make sure you take into account that the Saleen can take the corner with little to no slow down at the end of the drag strip too!

People should drag them, its a lot of fun! I'll also be doing the roadcourse at Heartland Park Topeka in 3 weeks (2.5 miles and 14 turns!!!)!

I have been told quite a few times that the new E will be faster than a Z06 and Viper. It was one of the main reasons why the car was pushed back to 06 instead of being released in 05. You might be right though since its all heresay until the comes out. I thought the SC was running 0-60 in 4.4s and 1/4 at 12.5.

Hell, the old 04 E cars were running 12.1 stock. The new E car will be an 11 sec stock street car, hands down. Even with an average driver.

Word I got today is that my new E will be on a truck and delievered in 3-7 days depending on # of stops. I have been told it is a mid 11 sec. Can't wait till it arrives and will give yawl a download after the first test.
