Default Problem with my beater- help

Hi, my winter beater broke down today and I can't figure out why. It was driving normal and then it just lost power when I accelerated, then started stalling. I had to push it home, and now it will start and idle, but when I put it into drive or reverse, it will die slowly, will hear knocking and stuff. I can put it in reverse quick and move it and then move it back in drive real quick but that's all, it won't stay started unless it's in park or N. Any will help would be great, I would like to have an idea of what im looking at here.

BTW it is a Saturn SC2 - 1994

Sounds like a fuel filter or fuel pump issue.

The car would still idle if the fuel pump was bad right?

Thanks for the input

Yea probably a fuel flow issue. Is the car still using the original factory 1994 fuel filter? lol

lol, I wonder. So should I bring it to a mechanic or try changing the fuel filter first?

How about your IAC (idle air controller). or your TPS (throttle position sensor) Or your fuel filter.
