I wonder if fiberglass would be a better option than welding? Just a thought.

Welding the trunk holes is the only way to go. Any non metal filler will fail in the long run.

Speaking of fiberglass, I would only buy a spoiler made of fiberglass. From all the posts I have read on this thread, as well as what an aquaintance in the business tells me, spoilers and other body accesories made of urethane have fitment, installation and quality problems. Urethane products may be cheaper, but the added prep costs actually make them more expensive overall, and over time , they often crack and warp.

As always, you get what you pay for.

I posted this in other area and got little response. I was wondering how well the pre-painted CDC ducktail spoilers match factory colors. I have a friend that said that they woudl be close but that every batch of paint etc. is different and the colors will be off. He told me that I shoudl go with the unpainted one and have a body shop color match it. Any thoughts? I will have the tungsten grey model with spoiler delete so no holes to fill.

Thanks,

B2

I am going to toss my stock spoiler as well.
The only one i like is the Roush angled spoiler, someone told me this will cover the stock holes, and uses the back holes for mounting,i can't verify this however.Yet....
The 05 up body is long and edgy,a curved duck tail just doesn't flow well with the body lines at all in my opinion.

Yes, if you scroll up a few posts you'll see in my last post that the Roush does cover the stock spoiler holes.

And with that I'll make this announcement:

Everyone please.......PLEASE.......read through the WHOLE thread before posting a question here. Most of questions and inquiries being posted here in recent times have already been answered somewhere in this thread. Please take the time, starting with the first page, and read your way back to the last post. I know everyone wants the quick answer, but if you're having as hard a time deciding on an aftermarket spoiler as me, then you should take your time and do as much research as possible.

There is already alot of info collected in this thread........websites, fitting and quality feedback, installation estimates, plenty of pictures of different spoiler kits on different cars, stock spoiler hole covering ideas, and personal opinions. And with my previous post, you should all have a good picture of what kits use or cover the stock spoiler holes and which ones don't. Thank you all for using this thread to post your spoiler/ducktail info and feedback instead of scattering it all over the place in smaller threads..........you all are the reason this thread has worked as well as it has.

Cheers

I have the Cervinis Ducktail Spoiler on my 05 Mustang GT. It is awesome; however, I used the double sided tape and it seems that the spoiler is coming off of the trunk. I used a heat gun to heat up the tape prior to installing the hood, but it is still coming off the trunk. Has anyone experienced the same type of problems? If so, what did you do to combat the problem...Help needed...thx, Kingman

That is a full rearend replacement kit that was developed by a third party company a while back. The spoiler on that car is meant to be used with that kit only (which replaces the rear quarter panels)......so it's a no-go for a standalone spoiler. I don't think the kit is even available for sale anywhere......at least, not yet.

IMO, the kit doesnt look too bad... it just needs to be fabbed in. I hate how there are all the lines.. not sure if its supposed to be that way or not. I like the idea of wider fenders on our cars though, just looks better I think.

I think it would work a bit better if the rear hips went straight down to the wheel wells....instead of having the bulging hips AND the fender flares. Makes the rear of the car too busy. Just smooth down those rear fender flares and it would look alot better.

I just finished putting the Invisi-Spoiler on mine. The nice thing about it is it doesn't have to be painted, it comes pre-molded in this color (invisible). Alignment was a little off, but you really can't see it At a cost of 0 dollars (including shipping) the price is right too
