I've heard that spoilers/ducktails made out of urethane tend to warp or develop ridges, because they don't hold their shape as well as fiberglass. Not sure if that's what is going on with your 3DCarbon spoiler or not. What material is it made of? I've seen a few cases of "bumped, warped, and rippled" spoiler products appearing on the forum in the last few weeks. I guess it's time to start researching exactly what each of the available kits out there is made of, and how prone to shape-stretching they are once exposed to the elements.
The 3 Piece Rear “Duck Tail” spoiler is manufactured in High Pressure polyurethane. I called the vendor, and guess what I have coming as a third replacement? The GT 500 replica, its not made of the same material, and won't have the rippling effect.

Good call, I've seen that one and I'd definitely go for it instead of the 3 piece. Good fortune for you
What could happen? Not sure on what your getting at here. Difference is its, one piece, doesn't sit flush on the tail ends, and slightly different angle. I would have kept the 3 piece, if it wouldn’t have been for the defects.

The vendor in which sent me the replacement 3 piece which was defective as well doesn't need them back. So before I toss them in the trash does anyone need the side pieces which are flawless?
Hey HottyMustang..........I too have the SSE duck bill spoiler. Did you install it yourself or have a body shop install? Also did your spoiler have any flaws? Mine looked like it was dragged on rough concrete. The corners were not crisp. To make matters worse my installer screwed it up by removing and re-installing it 3 times. Of course now it is seperating from the deck lid. Did you use the two supplied screws with your unit?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am now in the position of having to purchase a new spoiler, paint it, and install it after I already paid someone to do it.
Thanks for your help.

The body is a friend of mine so were gonna just do it one weekend. We will weld. I dont know what he would charge to have it done but i could ask.
I just got a quote on getting that exact same spoiler painted/installed, holes fixed, cdc louvers painted/installed, and the optional 3rd brake light kit installed. The quote is from a Ford dealership, but I've got a few more places I'm going to get a quote from before I have it done.
Quote:
$93.00-------mechanical labor(brake light kit)(1.5hrs) $231.80------body labor(6.1 hrs) $619.40------paint labor(16.3 hrs) $423.80------paint(16.3 units of paint) $15.00-------body supplies $35.10-------tax $1418.10----total
He said it could actually be more or less depending on how much time it actually took.
I just got another quote from a privately owned paint & body shop and it was $857 for everything. I know this guy does quality work also, the cost for paint/supplies is about $330 and the rest was labor.
I just got mine back(should have time to post pics this weekend). I ended up only paying $650 for the painting/installing), I had forgot that I had a cousin that owns a paint & body shop until I talked to my dad about it. He painted the louvers and spoiler, filled the factory spoiler holes and installed the 3rd brake light kit.
Oky, here are some pics of the DCF ducktail spoiler. Sort of a combination of the Streetscene and CDC ducktails: has the Streetscene's flared shape and blocks out the third brake light like the CDC.

I had my bodyshop guy do it. He had some issues with it also. It didn't have too many flaws, but it wouldn't shape into place easily. The passenger side corner where the middle piece that attaches to the trunk and the outer piece meet, the middle piece didn't line up correctly. It took a few days of leaving it in the sun to mold it to where it should be. As you can see, its good now. And yes, I had him put the screws in because I didn't want it to start coming off as I drove. I didn't like the idea of just the sticky side tape, the screws are some piece of mind.

Ok guys, this is bad timing on my part apparently. I put up the pics of the DCF spoiler a couple of nights ago when I decided that I may go with that particular kit. The link to the DCF spoiler has been up on the first page of this thread for the last couple of months, but after trying to go to the link last nite I learned that DCF has removed most of its DCF500 parts from its website. I'm not exactly sure what the reason behind this is. I'm gonna give them a call on Tuesday and see what the deal is. It's a real bummer for me as well because I had plans to do the DCF hood and spoiler as well. I'm hoping that will still be possible.
Here's one that was left off the list "3 pc Bullit Style"

Ok, anyone who knows me knows that I've been struggling to come to a decision on what ducktail spoiler kit I want to put on my 05 GT. Well, everytime I start to decide...something new and cool comes along and changes everything. And just now it occurred to me just how many spoiler kits are available for the S197 mustangs. So, given that the info on these kits has been scattered all over a number of threads (and the fact that the search function is hit and miss), I've decided to try and do a definitive, one-stop shopping info thread for the ducktail and wing spoilers that are available for our cars. I'm asking for help from you guys. This is for all those out there that, like me, are interested in getting an aftermarket spoiler for their mustang and want to know what is available to them....and how those products rate with those who have installed them on their cars.
So, if any of you have installed an aftermarket ducktail or wing spoiler....plz come in and post some pics of it (from different angles plz, so ppl can get a good feel of how it looks on the car) and let us know what kind of quality the product you went with had when shipped to you. This will also be a good place for those in need of information to come and ask questions about the products that are out there.
Here is the list of spoiler kits that I have found thus far.....feel free to add anything new that you find.
If any of the above links are wrong or do not work, plz feel free to correct them. Thanks. I have a couple of other items that I will post when the pricing for them becomes available.
Again, thanks in advance for any input or help with this thread that you all contribute.
Here are some pics that I promised of the Street Scene Ducktail. I tried to get all the angles so you can see where and how much it comes down. If you want me to take another angle or anything, please ask. Here they are......
