Which one would you or are going to choose out of the three? I think I'll be going all the way with the 1000. Plus the subs in the trunk take up less space than before. I think it's worth the money. Of course, there will be those sunny days with my windows down, stereo off, just listening to my Mustang roar.
Did you know that the 500 and the 1000 both have MP3 capibility? That pretty cool if you ask me.

I have to say I would just go with the cheepest one...if its like that Mach system in the older models you can't really upgrade them. Just tear out what ever is in there when you get the car and put in an aftermarket (at least if you want to have a kick a$$ sterio in your car).
I have the MACH 460 in my 2004 GT. It's pretty good for a stock system, but you can't just swap out the speakers with aftermarket stuff. You have to rip out the entire system and start over if you want to upgrade it properly. You'll probably have the same deal with the options you are looking at. If you go with the 1000, make sure you're happy with it for a long time. Or go with the base system and upgrade to a better aftermarket system later.
I hardly listen to the stereo now. I used to, in other vehicles. But listening to my car roar is more fun. And I thought it was just me, having my first Mustang. But everyone else in here does the same. And these guys have had Mustangs since they were kids!
Depends on prices for the packages. If they're not bad then go with that, the premium systems like the mach aren't bad at all unless you're a hardcore stereo guy. If it's like $1000+ then may as well get an aftermarket setup and put it all in when you get it.

The Mach 460 was horrible if you asked me. Sounded very muddy. The CD players had issues. Just over all poor quality if you ask me.
Might be a car by car thing, not consistent in quality. My friend's got one and it sounds fine to me. No doubt about the fact that they're way too complex for working on.

Go for the stock stereo. With the money you save over the Shaker 1000 system will be probably 1200 dollars. You can go on the internet and order aftermarket items from sites such as www.ikesound.com or www.etronics.com and get a hell of a lot better system than what Ford has to offer.
It really depends if you would rather finance the cost of upgrading to a medocre stock stereo or pay cash for a superior aftermarket system.
If you are happy with the stock Shaker 1000 get it and call it a day. If you are not going to be satisfied, buy the cheapest possible and spend your money on aftermarket equipment.
