Default C&L/XCAL2 & 4.10s from Brenspeed

Finished the install on Friday at about 6 p.m. Pretty standard install...no problems.

4.10 gears by Motive Gear: First off....NO, I repeat, NO NOISE! All of the people that say the gears "wake up" the car are dead on! Keep in mind you won't be spending a lot of time in 1st gear. Most times, you can even start out from a dead stop in 2nd with little or no feathering of the clutch.

C&L/XCAL2: Install was a breeze! Programming was a breeze! The throttle response is greatly improved. The throttle can actually be a bit touchy. Gonna have to get used to it. If you let off the throttle at high rpm and pick it back up without being careful, the car can lurch and surge a bit. As far a noise, I have had the FRPP/Borla small axle backs on for a while. You can hear the air coming from the intake with the windows down when you crack the throttle, but my exhaust is loud enough that you can't really hear a difference when driving...maybe a TINY bit at WOT.

Overall, the car does feel totally different. If you have a $grand$ or so to spend, don't think there are too many other things you could do and get the best bang-for-the-buck factor.

Thanks to Brent and all at Brenspeed for the help!

Gonna have to really look out for the PoPo, now! They can be pricks in Northern Virginia as some of you know, I'm sure!

Zx9,

Auto or manual? Was the stuff from brenspeed canned tunes or custom per your mods? Also, did you have Ford install the gears so your warranty isn't voided?

Thanks

Does anyone have any idea of how much it will cost to have Ford install the gears?

'06 GT with manual trans.

The Xcal2 came with Brent's 89, 91 and 93 octane tunes. Went dirctly to the 93 octane....why mess around, right?!?!

The gears were installed by my shop foreman (20+ years exper.). I am a Service Manager at a family owned, independant shop in Northern Virginia that has been in business since 1955. Wife is an Asst. Service Manager at a Ford Dealer.....

Here's the thing about your warranty being voided due to aftermarket parts/labor. The jist is, per the 1975 Magnuson/Moss Act, the only way warranty coverage can be denied is if the installed aftermarket part is at fault for the failure that requires the warranty coverage. See attached for the entire explanation:

FYI, book time on R&R ring & pinion per ALLDATA is 4.9 hours. Don't forget about the cost of the Synthetic 75W140 (+/- 3 qts.) and 4 oz. of friction modifier.

Talked to my wife....at her dealer, labor and fluids would run $599 + shop supplies and tax.
