Word! No flames! Lol...Being new to the forum, i didnt know what to expect from you guys. I was dying to put a Kenwood ddx-7015 in my stang when i first saw them. But got scared when reading on the net about all the "mach 460 problems", ya know with aftermarket headunits and whatnot. Im here to tell you now....DONT BE SCARED..its really easy and simple. As far as the double din fit. All i did was put the kenwood mounting sleeve into the space..folded the tabs to secure it..and at this point theres a .25 of an inch gap around the harness...slid it in..placed some strips of electric tape on the sides (vertical) and placed the trim ring on. Ghetto yes i know, but you really cant tell the gap is very small. Then proceed to place the vent panel back in place. And voila it looks good. As far as the wiring harness..i just got the metra 70-5519 wiring harness. You can get them here.. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=265-790 . So yes..it is possible to fit one of these in yours. I promise ;) Thanks for the compliments guys, I guess ill stick around these forums for quite a while now.

Oh yeah something else. The ddx-7015's face isnt detachable. So i fashioned a cover to hide the head unit. I used to work at an airbrush shop, and we had aluminum licence plates to airbrush on. Well i measured the dimensions of the face of the headunit..masked off the tag. Drew the exact rectangle that was measure..add a half inch lip to each side of the recatangle. And cut it out with a dremel. Then sprayed adhesive on the tag, and placed a piece of black cloth cut from a black t-shirt, wrapped the cover, bent each lip down to form a box and tada..instant theft deterrent. It almost looks like a center channel speaker when covered.Sorry about the pic quality, i had to take the pics with my cell, the good interior shots were taken with my friends 5mp elph. Grr...

Dude,
What year is your stang? Mine is a 00 and the trim for the stereo is stepped so if I wanted to do double din I would end up with a funky looking install. I would like to find a trim that isnt stepped.

I like the screen. Not a fan of neons but whatever...the gauges are pretty cool too. I wouldnt be done there if I were you (if you intend on keeping the car for much longer) but youve done a really good job so far. Keep it up

I think your setup looks pretty nice. I recently installed a cd/dvd/mp3 player in mine as well, but it doesn't have the monitor. I bought a monitor that retracts to fit into a single din slot that should hopefully show up tomorrow. so I can install it I have the two din slots to fill so I just bought two seperate units.
I am running off the mach 460 system with my unit also. I need to add a little more bass though. Just one more thing to add to the list :)

How hard were those gauges to put in? I did some on some other cars and they were always a pain to try to get on without taking the needles off. I have been hesitant to try on my mustang because of this.

I noticed on the mustang, these guages are often sold with a tool to pop the needles right off. On other cars I was always told to not remove the needles because it was difficult to get to the proper setting.

Are the needles a pain to put back to their correct setting?
Have you had any problems with the needles sticking to the guages?
If you didn't have problems...where did you buy your guages from?

They are not actually hard to install. I got em off good ole ebay. Here...
Mine didnt come with any tools for the needles. I took mine off by hand. MY ADVICE...
Is to take pics of the gauges while the car is running at idle before taking the needles off. Turn off car obviously,..go through the steps removing the cluster etc. And remove the needles. overlay the new white gauges over the old gauges..plug cluster harness back in..so you can align the "service engine" lights n stuff while there lit. And then proceed to gently push the needles back on in the positions in the picture.
Hope this helps!

Has anyone here tried to put the 01 trim ring in a 00? I have the 00 like he has pictured with the two offset openings. What would it take to modify the dash to make this work?

I believe That even though the trim ring seem like its the only difference. Theres brackets behind it. That still keep it 2 single dins. Im not sure if it can be modded or not. If i had this setup..id probably get one of the alpines that are two seperate decks, ones the flip out screen, ones the dvd drive. There nice. Something like this...
