High Pitched Squeak

I have a '99 V6 Mustang pretty much stock except for exhaust and a couple other things. When I have been driving the car for a while, maybe 30 minutes say, whenever I'm in lower gears the car makes a very high pitched sqeak. It's not the brakes, because it happens with my foot off the brakes and it only occurs at slow speeds. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

Probably more like a belt tensioner or idler. Spray just a LITTLE oil into the bearing area of one, then run the engine. If it still squeaks, shoot some oil in the other. If the noise goes away, you found the squeak. If not..try to find the area the squeak is comming from and let us know.

Well, keep in mind that disc brake pads have a noise indicator on them and it will squeal only when your aren't applying the brakes and the sound will go away when you apply the brakes.
Also, the sound seems to go away at higher speeds because the pitch goes so high that you can't hear it, but every dog you pass can.

Very true Mr Booze. Pull the wheels and check for brake pad thickness. Oh, and that metal tang on the pad won't hurt anything. It's a warning system to tell you the pads are low. Check your brakes as soon as possible.
