I have an 03 GT Convertible that I am looking to get lower. I have read through most of the posts and I think Eibachs would be the best but someone mentioned to me that their is more than adding springs and new shocks/struts. They mentioned to me that additional modifications would be needed to keep the wheels and tires from "squating". Any suggestions / ideaas?
Basically when you lower a 79-04 Mustang lower than about 1.25 inches, your camber becomes too negative to properly correct with the stock camber plates.
Aftermarket Caster/Camber Plates allow for more adjustment range. It is worth it to get aftermarket camber plates for two reasons...
1. They help align the car, as mentioned above... eliminating tire wear and increasing overall tire>road contact, which increase grip and performance.
2. They help stiffen the front end, and improve steering response by replacing the factory rubber strut mounts with new stiffer spherical bearings/bushings (which are in the new cc plates).
thanks for the reply... I now understand. Can you recommend a good kit, that would include the caster plates along with the springs and possibly shocks? I'm looking for an aggressive stance without sacrificing much in the way of a comfortable ride. Again the car is a 03 GT convertible.
Both are very good shocks & struts. The Bilstein's will provide the best ride quality, while the Tokico's will definitely have the best value.
We sell many kits on our website, from Maximum Motorsports, Eibach, Steeda, StangSuspension.com etc. that have all of these items in them, or combinations of the above.
