i just bought a set of saleen side scoops for my 99 gt, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what to use behind the gills. the body has holes in it and can be seen through the gills of the side scoops. i want to paint it ford blue to match my calipers and side window decal. any suggestions would be much appreciated

its easy getting the old ones off, they just clip into the body. putting on the new side scoops is a little harder, you have to remove the back seat(both bottom cusshion and back cushion. then you need to remove the corner panel, then you have access to the back side of the body where the scoops go on. there are holes on the body that match up to the saleen side scoops. i'm going to home depot right now to try and find something to put behind the gills. you could use a screen, i just want something i can paint as to see a little ford blue behind the gills to match my calipers and side window decal. i'll post pictures of my car as soon as i get my scoops put on. i got rid of all the honeycomb on the car, it looksgreat and the sallen scoops finish it off.let me know if you have any other questions

soo you just pulled the stock scoops right off? and they left holes that the saleen pieces dont cover? If so that kind of sucks. I think it would kind of be a pain in the butt to cover up the holes. How much did you pay to have the side scoops painted? I'm trying to figure out how much its going to run me to have the saleen spoiler and side scoops painted! let me know how you made out at home depot! goodluck!

if you want you can fiberglass the hole left after the old ones came off i would surggest painting it a medium gloss black afterwards

install the screen set after you paint the back sides of the scoops black also

painting the back side of the scoops makes them look bigger and more aggressive and its also how saleen does it
