That auto trans is what will kill your launch. I have raced my sons G/F's 03 V6 auto trans Camaro with my 03 V6 auto trans Stang with my son driving the Camaro. I smoke the Camaro, but the Camaro is all stock and I have 4:10 gears and a high stall converter amongst a few other things.
Bottom line, a V6 Stang is a commuter car and the gears and auto trans is a dog untill you change the set up make it quick. I can pull on small V8's just with my drive train mods and I haven't even touched the engine yet, just to give you an idea of how important gearing and auto trany changes are. Your Diablo Sport already put you above the curve, now do your gearing and stall converter and you'll be amazed.

In your case, he will take you off the line, but if the run is long enough, you'll catch him.

when did they make '03 camaro's?

The 3800s make about 200 hp stock, and the 3.8 makes 190. It's a driver's race because I believe the Camaro is a little heavier. Everyone I talk to says the V6 Camaro is faster than the V6 Stang, but in my experience, that is not true.

Same here I have smoked many V6 camaros and firebirds. they arent even worth posting about... But with your auto if you were stock I would say he will beat you. But since you have a tuner you can adjust that auto. I would say that you will kick his a** pretty good. Have fun and be safe

Hahaha, yesterday I was following my buddy who just bought an 06 V6 and he pulled up next to an LS1 and I started screaming out the window "don't do it! Don't do it!!! He's gonna kill you!" Well, he did it anyway... God bless the ignorant. I know that was O/T but I had to share.

maros have 3.08 gears, so they are more for the highway, but they have alot better auto tranny then us.

it could be a Y87 with 3.42's

even at that my 97 has 3.08's and has never lost to even a lightly modded splitport.

99% of the time it is a drivers race but the F-body has a huge advantage being a 5spd and could be even more if it does have 3.42's

Not yet... I'm waiting for him to get a little more comfortable with driving it first. I rode with him, and he's getting a lot better, but not quite good enough

I'll give it another week before we run em'... he'll probably beat me, but it'll be fun. There's no doubt that I'm the better driver, but he's definitely got enough skill to beat me.
