Default Question about the "tick"

Hey guys, just bought my first Cobra on friday. It's an 03 Convert. It's completly stock and has about 24K on it. I've been reading on these boards some about the imfamous "tick" and I know my car was built before 11/02, not sure when exactly, but the carfax report says it was titled with 9 miles on it in 8/02 so it had to have been before. It doesn't seem to be "ticking" and I don't know if it has had the TSB done, but is the ticking really that bad for the motor, is it something that will eventually lead to engine failure, or is it really just a pain in the ass listning to it?
