I just remembered something, I had a pair of wheel shields that fit behind the front wheels to keep all the dirt off the wheel-can't remember where I bought them but I know it was mail order-subscribe to Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords (www.musclemustangsfastfords.com) and check out ads, I'm sure they're still out there but I can't remember exactly who made em or what they were called exactly. they are light weight, black aluminum and fit snuggly into the back side of the wheel and they really do keep the brake dust away from the front of the wheels.

hooray for you! a good looking girl with brains! definitely take it to the strip, it's the only safe place to race it and you'll never have to worry about the police or wrecking your car b/c someone pulled out of a side road in front of you! you can also do like you said, shove the timeslip up their noses when they try to bs you about how hot their car is! u live near the new strip up near Jolilet? or down south near Gateway near St. Louis?

GO FOR IT! I'm sure they have some kind of street night program or an open test and tune where you can get your Stang out on the track and start learning how much more orgasmic it is to run your own car not just watch your friend! all you need to do is make sure your battery is secure in it's stock location, you have an overflow bottle for the radiator, brakes work and so does the seat belt, and you remove any loose covers from your wheels. track rules vary, but most places don't require a helmet until you run quicker than 14.00 in the 1/4 mile. I still remember my first pass 10 years ago, I was nervous as hell but everyone at the track was real helpful and I had a ball! Won a trophy first time out too! "TRY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT" keep us posted on the results!

i never knew that they gave out trophies. that's pretty cool if they do. i have to talk to my friend and get more information from her about it all. she raced her step dad's mustang with nos in it but now she races her focus which she's modifying. they also bought like an 89 mustang to fix up and race too. they're really into it. i will definitely take pics though when i go back. i've never seen so many amazing cars. i got to see jet cars for the first time in my life when i went there too. i was blown away

Angel, wait until you see Top Fuel and nitro Funny Cars run in person! Jets are cool too, but Top Fuel is nothing like you see on TV, you have to be there in person to get the full experience, the ear shattering NOISE, the nitro fumes up your nose, the ground-shaking experience of two 8,000 HP cars launching at the same time with 10 foot tall flames rising out the exhaust is AWESOME in person. TV doesn't do them justice, no sound system can replicate the NOISE! When the nationals come to Joliet, you must go up there at least one time, best deal is on Friday afternoon and nite! Fridays are the cheapest ticket that lets you see the Pros run and all of them will be making runs since Friday is the first time trial they get! You can actually see more pro passes on Friday than on race day Sunday plus you get to see them run at night. TOTALLY AWESOME AT NIGHT! IF THE JETS BLEW YOU AWAY, YOU BETTER FILL YOUR POCKETS WITH ROCKS CAUSE YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHING 'TIL YOU SEE NITRO AT NITE! "I love the smell of nitro........" (ps: pack a clean pair of undies, you might need 'em!

trust me! after 30 years of going to watch nitro, I've seen it happen more than once! Usually it's some unsuspecting newby who ain't paying attention roaming the pits when they fire off one to warm it up before a pass. Saw one young lady with her back to the action jump 3 feet off the ground one day and then smack the hell out of her boyfriend after she landed for not warning her about what was about to happen! boy was that funny! almost as funny as the time the boyfriend forgot to watch the portajohn his girlfriend was using and she forgot to lock the door and a drunk walked up and opened the door exposing her to all the world! never knew a woman could cuss like that! The NHRA will be in your area May 20-23 and then again September 30- October 3, call 815-727-RACE for more info! enjoy!
