Default cam shaft problems

[:@]i was wondering if any body out there can help me with this problem. I have started to build my motor and will hopefully be dropping it this weekend but for some reason i can't get the camshaft to set in the bearings. this is the first motor i have put together so i'm pretty sure it is something i am doing wrong. when i slide the cam in through the front the distributor gear gets caught on the front bearing and will not go all the way in. theres the problem here my question the freeze plug on the back of the block was left off and came in a bag with my motor. Is this because i need to put the cam in from the back??? Like i said Im sure this is a problem caused by inexcperience. Can any body help?[:

no, the cam does go in the front. that is just a plug for the back. what about the cam bearings? are they new installed or not changed?

Check to see if the bearing is installed wrong or is the wrong bearing. Are you using the correct tool to install the camshaft?

shouldn't all the bearings be the same . i have an exxtra set of bearings and none of them will fit over that part of the cam. Did they give me the wrong cam?
