i was just wondering if someonw could help me by providing some more information on my mustang. i have my doubts that it's a real saleen. if not, it is a spot on clone. the only saleen badge it has is one on the firewall under the hood. it has id# 03-187, which matches the number on the bumper. vin # 1FAFP42X41F229065. it's a 2001 mineral gray coupe. i've contacted saleen several times with no response. if there's any information you could provide, i would greatly appreciate it.

The "03" part designates the vehicle model year. In this case 2003. For a 2001, it would be "01." For both 2001 & 2003 #0187, I don't see a VIN ending with 065.

I just picked up a 1996 Saleen and waht to know if its real... 1996 S281 coupe (black) Vin: 1FALP42X3TF212022 ID#: 314 If possible, can you also tell me what options it came with? Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the purchase. 96-0314 is real. Only Saleen options were 3.55 gears and the Ford Factory Leather. Ship date of 07.18.1996, Make sure to post some pics when you get a chance.

If it's a convertable, it's real. Ship date: 10.31.2002 Saleen options: 3.55 gears, speedster package, and black top.

I have seen ''06-1380 coupe 3V for sale in my town. Black, center exhaust, "E" hood (no other "E" markings I could see, diffusers and such) manual trans, upgraded Brembo drilled rotors (front/rear) No price listed and do not know mileage. Thougth I would pimp his/her ride in case someone is interested, I could put in touch with seller. Jazzer

Hey guys, whats going on? I am looking to purchase a 1988 Saleen from this guy near where I live. He says its Saleen #554 and the VIN is: 1fabp41e7jf268649, thanks guys! Just wanted to make sure its the real thing, he has the plate in the engine bay, but has no paperwork. thanks!

Hi Guys, great Forum here and great service you provide ! I''''''''m looking at a 1996 S281 #344 that is for sale locally. The VIN is listed as 1FALP42X3TF215924. The ad says it has the original Vortech V-1 w/ gen 3 bracket upgrade and 3.3" pulley (whatever that means). Can someone tell me if it''''''''s the real deal Saleen ? I can provide more info if needed. Many thanks ! P.S. It''''s a hardtop coupe.

Looks like the VIN checks out. However, I believe the S-351''s were the only Saleens to see factory-installed superchargers that year.

Thanks for the answer Mills. I read elsewhere in this forum that was the case about the SC not being original and you just confirmed it for me. He claims 312 RWHP and according to one calculator that might be good for high 12''s in the Q-mile. I would want a Saleen that would at least be a little quicker than my 89 Fox GT (probably a high 13 sec. car). How much HP are the mod motors good for before they go pop ? Great Color choice. The Mod motors can handle about 400-420rwhp. It all comes down to the tune.

Got another one I need checked out if someone would be so kind. It''s a 2004 S281 #213, VIN# 1FAFP42X84F187875. It has about 13K miles, and he''s asking about $20K. No mods as far as I can tell.
