When did saleen start putting on the underdrive pullys on the 99+ models, cause this kid on one of my post's has a yellow saleen that he is claiming is real and for one just on the outside of the car i can see about 5 things wrong with it, but to prove it is "real" he showed a motor pic and it has the Saleen ID plate on the fire wall but no underdrive pullys... so is this real, hears a link to the post http://www.xceedspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98538 .... let me know please, cause i dont belive it....
Judging from his cardomain pics, username SPEEDNLUX, I would have to say it's a FAKE!!! Someone can check the Saleen book though. It's a supposed 03-0074 SC Convertible. If no one looks it up before 10pm, I'll do it when I get home. Few things wrong. Front bumper ID placement is off. Wrong hood for a SC Saleen the hood on there is a 03-04 Cobra hood. Also it has the 02-04 Extreme wing, not the 3 piece wing that came on the 01-04 cars. Plus, why would get rid of authentic Saleen rims for replica bullitts?
Edit part: Also no engine pay pics of the plaque, or the shifter console, which leads me to believe he's trying to hide something. JMHO.

actualy if you look on the second or third page of the post it shows an engine pic and it has the plac but no underdrive pullys... AND i was looking at the pix and noticed his wheel wells are not rolled...
I am going to be parking my REAL Saleen next to this guy at a local show the 10th of next month and cant wait... once you get them side by side ALL the diff's are going to pop out like a red thumb it shall be fun.....
I just registered on this site because I just bought this same Saleen. I saw this thread and figured I might as well post mine to see if its real. I scrolled down and noticed 00-425 and I was like "WTF?"
Now if I can only figure out if I have the SC series I or II...

From the factory you should have a Series I.
Hmmm. The easiest way to tell is by the shape of the casting.
David.....The Series II's aren't usually painted black are they? Maybe that why it looks different.
Correct. The Series II's came silver from Saleen, but I was lazy when if came to looking for a photo. The one above is a Series II in an incorrect black hue. Though the open center valley is still a feature of the II unlike the I.
The Lysholm's are black and they also feature a center valley, but their valley is filled with webbing/ ribs. The Lysholm's also have a smooth shaft cover. The I and II have cast ribs behind the pulley.
Good note though, a stock Saleen Series II should not be black.
I'm looking at getting back into the horsepower game again after a long hiatus. I'm interested in finding out if the following Saleen is legit...
2000 coupe 1FAFP42X6YF114798 #136
Any additional information would be very helpful
As a side note... I would like to thank sowaxeman and all the guys who have contributed to this forum. You are doing many of us newbies a great service with the invaluable information and expertise you offer.
I just bought a 1998 S351 convertible, #31 ..Its black w/ Gold powder coat wheels, Vin checked out w/ Saleen but I have no Idea how to value it. The car has 32000 miles. Carfax is true, and I paid $18,000 >> I have Original sticker from saleen with a price of $67000,Think I got a good deal or is this just a old saleen mustang.
