First, thanks for a great site. You are the first one to help me get a value on the Saleen I'm trying to sell. Now to see if it is truly a Saleen. I am trying to sell this car and two Thunderbirds (2002 & 2005) for a company whose owner passed away last December. He collected cars (primarily Fords). Anyway, the VIN # is 1FALP45X6VF118666 and the production # is 26. I will check here for your response. I am anxious to find out. The car has only 42,000 miles on it and it is beautiful and runs great. I hope I'm not disappointed.
1997-026 Comes back as real. Original Owner listed as Richard Strer, MD. Options are3.55 rear gears, speedster package, Chrome Wheel upgrade, and black top. Build date of 10/29/96.
Thanks for the good news and fast reply. I have attached a few photos if anyone is interested. She runs like a dream and is beautiful to boot. This is my first chance to drive a Mustang and see why everyone is in love with the Mustangs (particularly with the Saleen).
Oh well, I tried to include pictures but I'm not too good at posting yet. Anyway, you are missing some beautiful pictures!!! Thanks again to everyone that helped me find out what I needed.
Gotta say I love this site. Nothing better than talking Stangs and horsepower. Anyway, I just bought a 2000 Saleen s281 s/c vert with 15k miles (paid $18K)and am wondering which options it was ordered with. The owner I bought it from did not have the build sheet so I was hoping some one would authenticate it (99.9% sure its real) and give me some additional info. Also does anyone have the build numbers. I am interested in seeing how many of the s281 verts had superchargers and automatic. The car is #00-100 and the last eight of the vin are YF114208. Thanks so much.
It's legit....built 11-4-99. Options listed are Super., Mats, Spdstr, Chrome wheels, Auto, FLeather and black top.
The only way you can tell how many were built with those specific options is to call Saleen and pay to have them send you the sheet with that info. on it.
Is this a real Saleen? Its a 1999 Convert. with bumper number 381. The VIN is 1fafp45x4xf173861 The convertables I've seen have the roll bar and this one does not. Just curious before I make an offer. Thanks
Curious about a car I have actually owned for a few months now. Car is a 1990 hatchback VIN is 1FACP41EXLF146598. Car is # 99 according to firewall and console plaque. I have been told the car is some what rare in the fact it is Black w/ Black interior and supposedly was uncommon for 1990. I am new to the Saleen thing so any help and info would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ryan

Yes. The last three digits check correctly. 598 and 90-0099. Two owners are listed in the registry. Ship date of 02/28/90. No options in the comments.
Contact Team Saleen for more detailed build info. Might take a few for Pati's replacement to settle in. So... be kind.
As for the black Ford interior panels. Not sure if it's rare. Most of the 1990-91s that had black Ford interior trim gained grey FloFits for a tu-tone look. Some like it, some don't. Same goes for black seats in a grey Ford trim car.
The old Redeker book lists 61 black painted hatchbacks in 1990. Total amount of black cars at 81 for 1990.
As a side note...
If you like Saleens and want to gain additional info and see sweet photos. You need The Saleen Book by Brad Bowling. http://www.bradbowling.com/
Some say The saleen Book has improved their social life. Beats me.

Nope....they stopped the numbering in 1999 at 380 . Stay away from it.
Well, we all know I am not a fan of clones that go the distance.....fake badges, stickers and serial numbers.....but at least the person that built this car went out of there way to do some research and not duplicate an authentic serial number
