Default Macco Paint??

I need to get a new door for my car, and i have a color changing paint job, so i will not be able to get the door painted that exact color. So, i need to have my whole car repainted (the paint is chipping badly anyway). I only have $2000 and i am only 17 and that 2 grand needs to cover insurance and car repairs. I have a job but i can only spend a max of 1500 for paint. I have heard both good and bad things about macco paint, and their best paint job is about $1000, so it cant be that bad. Do i even have any other choice with the money i have? I just want my car to look good until i get out of college and have money to do a "real" paint job. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

they did an OK job on Red2k1GT's prelude , ask him about it. Its not as BAD as people will tell you, i had a friend get her sentra painted and its good for the money if you wanted something to last you until you get a GOOD paint job

Actually, I've seen cars come out of there decently. The paint is usually fine. It's their finish work that they tend to skimp on. So if you have an ass load of 1500 grit sand paper, and a buffer it will probably look okay.

i dont think they even do body work do they? i know they dont around here. some friends of mine had them paint for them and they would only take paint prepped cars. yea that one guys camaro i know started chipping after like 3 weeks....no S@&@!!!3 weeks dude...thats not even right! dont bother with them. find a good local guy. good old painter will do better than you think sometimes. go get some estimats and do some background checks on cars thats been painted in these shops. some guys are very reasonable. my uncle priced mine for like 300 with me buying paint and another guy around here did too. and theyre both grat painters. that guy im talking about restores old rides and ebays em and he got like 27,00, some odd dollars outta 57 chev. you can do better and prolly about as cheap as mako but youll have to do some searching.

See the trouble is that if you want a good paint job down the road you will need to strip off all that Maaco crap, which will a considerible amount of labor. Paint jobs are 99% prep work, and Maaco does very sub standard work. I hate to say it but you get what you pay for dude.

You would go there if you only wanted the paint to stay on your car for about 2 years or less.
