I think it'd be a nice touch. You'd have to figure out a good way to primer it so that the paint wouldn't chip over time. Perhaps a body shop would do it for $50-100 for a painting and glossing it.

I spoke with Jet-Hot about having them coat the air tube in matte black and they said it would be no issue. I was most concerned about keeping the inside of the tube clean and uncoated but they seem to think it wouldn't be a problem.

I had mine powder coated. Looks good and you never have to worry about grease or dirt getting in the pours of the metal.

Cost $25.

^^^ What he said ^^^

If you want to colormatch it to your vehicle, I would highly recommend powder coating over painting. Hatchman over at TMS has an ongoing thread on powder coated cam covers. Some of the folks in there have started doing other parts, including intake tubes. Plenty of pics in the thread.

Isn't poweder coating a process that must be applied to bare metal? I thought the metal was positively or negatively charged so that they would accept the powdercoat? It seems to me it would be weird on paint but I really don't know.

Hey Hawgman thanks for that info. How did your cam covers turn out? That guy Kevin seems to have a good thing going there.
