View Full Version : ??Best exhaust around??
DirtyDee916 03-10-2003, 10:28 PM does anyone know which company makes the absolute best and loudest sounding catback ehaust system. I have heard good stuff about dr. Gas, flowmaster, magnaflow, and bassani, but out of these 4 which one is the best? thnx
spike306 03-10-2003, 11:27 PM i would have to go with bassani, i haven't heard better yet!!!!
91GT5.0 03-11-2003, 05:27 PM MAC is pretty loud.
noslow50 03-12-2003, 12:57 AM no if u want loud why don't u just use glass packs... if u want it to sound like something go with a bassani or flowmaster... bassani is nice casue it's an exhasut u buy for life... stain less steel.... flows good for sounding like every other stanger out there...nothig wrong with that...
mustangdave357 03-17-2003, 11:53 PM Hands down the loudest, best sounding mufflers are hooker max flows. Flowmaster sounds hollow, glass packs cackle and sound horrible. Check out hookers web site and look at the design of the max flow, you will see what I mean.
Baalzz 03-18-2003, 03:07 PM I have a 95 mustang GT. I have flowmaster exhaust with turn down's. I wouldn't trade them for anything, they are the best sounding i have ever heard, along with all my other mustang buddies. Flowmasters with turn down's are the key.
spike306 03-20-2003, 11:16 PM as far as pipes go, i would say bassani x. but when it comes to mufflers, nothing please me more than 2 chamber flows resonating @ 1900 rpm's
mustangdave357 03-21-2003, 12:22 PM Not knocking flow masters at all but nothing compares to a hooker max flow, you dont know till you heard it! I like being different and doing different things than everyone else. Everyone has flowmaster and thats why I explored alternate mufflers.
91GT5.0 03-21-2003, 03:23 PM Flowmaster with an O/R X-pipe. That's badass!!
lloydchristmas 03-21-2003, 09:03 PM I had the hooker's on my V8 S10 blazer and they sounded bad ass!!!! But, im a Ford guy now and have yet to hear them on a mustang.
spike306 03-22-2003, 06:31 PM haven't heard much hookers around, i'll have to look into that. i got a friend that owns all the meineke muffler shops around here, i'll have get'em to hook me up
siouxperman21 04-08-2003, 03:08 AM i just got mine straight piped now i'm looking for some headers, i got an automatic, ive heard i cant fit full lenth headers on that, is that correct? well if it is what can i fit on it that will give me some good free flowing exhaust?
jbirdsfive0 04-08-2003, 10:27 AM my buddy put a bbk off-road x-pipe with a 3" mac cat back(w/ the big tips) on his MOM's 02 gt and it has to be the loudest street legal mustang ive heard yet. as far as headers i put bbk equal length shorties on my 92 5.0 and i like them.
lloydchristmas 04-08-2003, 11:31 PM BBK equal length sorties are the way to go!!!
jeep45238 04-09-2003, 12:45 AM Equal length long pipe headers.
Most power gained over the whole RPM range, no matter what engine used upon (IF it's tuned for that engine).
noslow50 04-09-2003, 12:54 AM dumps r cool for sound but they have no looks.... i'm gettin tips over dumps just because they look cooler..
351stang 04-09-2003, 03:07 AM bassani, hands down.
DirtyDee916 04-09-2003, 10:58 PM yeah 351stang i was thinking that as my chose. I've heard magnaflow and wasn't to impressed so hopefully bassani will be my answer.
thanx-
siouxperman21 04-10-2003, 03:24 AM ok thanks
Tangerine GT 04-12-2003, 12:40 AM I'm using BBK equal length shorties, an offroad bassani x pipe, and dynomax super turbos. you can get a catback bassani pipe but trust me the x-pipe makes a lovely sound you can't spell sexy without the X
Meaty84Stang 04-13-2003, 07:05 PM well first of all.... tail pipes suck... they take longer for the exhaust to exit the piping and therfore you lose a little bit of power... i have dumps and hands down they are the best thing you can get for power.. les restriction.... thats all you need....aswell i have hooker flowtech long tube hedders.. adn damn... for a small block.... yup they rule.... as far as any exhaust goes i would go with hooker.... they have never turned me wrong.... but stay away from bassani... waste of money unlsee you are going to put your car in shows... no one looks under your car so why waste money on sh*t that looks decent but doesnt give you the power...???
DirtyDee916 04-19-2003, 05:29 AM you may have a good point on bassani's prices, but i have heard many good reviews such as 5.0 mustang and super fords tested a full system on their new 03' mach 1 and gave it extremely high props for its sound and power increase. But then again i could be totally wrong.
ECR5.0 04-19-2003, 10:31 PM I have a 90 5.0 with magnaflow on it with mac headers and a bbk offroad H-pipe, and i always get looks when i floor it. I wouldnt count out the magnaflow it has a nice rumble at idle and an amazing sound when you get on it.
PTZ89stang 02-01-2005, 10:54 AM Hey guys i have a 89 mustang lx it has a 4 banger now ut i am gutting it and putting a 5.0 i was wondering what might hte difference be between equal and unequal, long tube, and shorty headers sorry for such a newbie question but i am so sorry i am looking at mac headers and for the pipes bbk x pipes let me know if that wouldbe a good setup...thanks
thelast50ho 02-01-2005, 07:54 PM If want to be the loudest just run open headers LOL
