Hi I'm of course new on the board. My name's Ryan and I'm in the market for a new car (to replace my 91 S10) and I thought a stang would rock. But when I checked into insurance for a 94 GT convert, my ins comp told me 2,200 a year. Little high. So you guys think if I went with an older stang like '66, it'd be lower?

When dealing with insurance companys the key word hurting you is "convertable", year of the car does not make too much of a difference unless you start talking full coverage and then it may only make a couple hundred dollar difference.  The other factor that may be hurting you is points on your license or your age.  If you have your heart set on a Mustang you may want to check to quotes on just a coupe to bring the rates down.  Good luck

why would that make a difference?  one of those stereotypes of "convertible drivers are higher risk" or what

theft...verts higher rate of theft...also year does make a diff cause it is also based on value of the vehicle. A 70' is worth what a few thousand or so and a 03 is worth $25g's big diff for the company paying out...

well most states only require libality insurance and the value of the vehicle is a very minor factor in liability, now for theft and collision the value of the vehicle kicks in

true true just pointing out what I know and I have never had less then full coverage... as for the stages doesnt matter which one cause they all look better then stock as for performance 3 is where it is at. Do a yahoo search and you will find out it is rated over the saleen sc and 03 cobra "stock" and that is just the 01. This is not my opinion these are reports. But in my opinion it sounds better looks better and handles better and not every Tom Dick and Harry have one like the others...
