Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

It bolts to the bottom side of the shifter. Basic gemoetry. Lengthen the shifter on one end changes the pivot point causing the distance traveled on the other end to become shorter to move the longer end the same distance.

what im trying to say is why is it so different then the other ones.. like why would hurst or steeda make such a bigger contraption then simply making the one saleen makes... does the saleen one do the same thing as the above mentioned brands

Well, technically Hurst isn't making one "bigger". That is my main beef with the Hurst shifter. You are paying $150+ for pretty much a stock shifter unit ( with the optional chrome handle ) and a longer bottom end on the shift rod. When you could accomplish the same thing with the Saleen adaptor.

As for the other two brands you mentioned. The mechanics is quite different with those over the stock shifter. They are spring loaded to bring them back to a natural position when in neutral ( basically ready to slide into 3rd ) where the stock shifter is really nothing more than a ball in a socket. They also have a reduced side to side throw. The Pro 5.0 ( and I "think" the TriAx ) also has shifter stop bolts that protect the shift forks in the tranny from overly agressive shifting.

so what your saying is that with the saleen one it will not help you when it comes to missing third gear soo basically not worth it????... but all it will do is reduce your throw?

and for the pro and steeda it has the spring so you would have an easier time getting into third while shifting hard and fast.. but when you say the stop bolt now that would protect the tranny from shifting hard....

now putting in a short throw can it hurt your car at all??
and other then getting into third easier which i do agree is important what else do you benifit from when you install one? isnt the shifter throw pretty short already?? and would it make driving the car harder or annoying??

man i know i sound really dumb .. but im one of those that like to over research before i buy.
