I will be in the market for a car within the next few months, and I wondered how hard it is to find a Saleen replica on the market. I saw a gorgeous replica for sale just recently, but I am not ready right now.
I am looking for a replica cuz I really cannot spend the 25K+ for a used Saleen, but I love the styling of them.

In my opinion, if I couldn't have the real thing, I wouldn't have something that merely "looks" like a Saleen. Just go with the GT or a used cobra or something. And you can find an older model saleen (1994-1998) for much cheaper than 25k. Yes, the Saleens do look awesome, but I would hate telling everybody that it's not a real saleen. Just my $.02.

Ya but its for that .01% that u do get a saleen, people like us that will know :)... i mean i actually dont like people that just stick things like gt emblems if they dont have s**t under the hood to back it up... its like ricers w/ their vtec emblems... but if you plan on eventually supercharging the engine and stuff then i guess it would be chill but still.... id go for a gt or cobra

You think that is bad, I seen one on a mustang.I also seen TRD stickers all over a cavalier. When I pulled up next to him and asked " what on your car is from Toyota Racing Developement".His reply " what is Toyota Racing Developement"? I just laughed and drove off.

Good point. I've considered a simple Saleen body kit but I have no problem telling people that my Saleen 03 Cobra is a replica especially when it smokes most "real" Saleens anyway even without the body kit. Nevertheless, I like the look...real or replica. Afterall, the kit is real. "Real" simply states that it was put together at the Saleen factory which isn't saying much. I've heard many first hand accounts that Saleen customer service absolutely sucks.

well you can go ahead and put the saleen kit on a GT, but you'll have GT emblems on the side, unless you take them off wich will leave holes that dont fill well. also i believe the hood is different. i see GT's with saleen kits and GT emblems on them all the time. dead giveaway. i love the saleen kit, but if i ever put one on my stang, i wouldnt put the stripes or saleen writing on the side.

oh, and also, toyota did make a cavalier, wich were all right hand drive sold in japan. so TRD stickers are like honda emblems on say an integra, yea we know honda's name is on the JDM integra, but yours isn't a JDM, obviously when the easiest giveaway is left hand drive.

I am going to check out a 1987 saleen for sale and i was wondering if anyone knows a way i can find out if it is really a saleen. Like by the vin# or some other way. The guy who is selling it says it doesn't have the body kit on it any more and that he broke off the saleen emblem. Also he doesn't have the saleen documentation anymore. Also he said it ran 12.5 in the 1/4 and is very modded and only wants $3800 for it. metalcrateamp37851.0472800926

Im building a replica Cobra "R". Eventually Im going to have enough cash into it to put all the necessary parts on it. I was just wondering though, should I leave the cobras off? And tell everyone that its a GT R :P Sounds like a ricer car huh?

get a foxbody saleen they are very affordable prices range from $10,000-$30,000 for fair to excellent cars. I only paid $21,000 for my 93 saleen 1 year ago and it only had 4,200 miles on it. It was like a brand new car! Thats less than a new GT, and you get alot more car for your money. I say get a foxbody saleen!

If you put a GTR Symbol on that mustang I will personally drive to where you are and Beat you over the head with a ricers exhaust pipe.
Ive seen one before and it was just the dumbest thing ive seen. put some cobra emblems on it or dont worry about it please.
Actually if you debadge it someone might mistake it for a v-6

Its obvious you have no clue as to what goes into a saleen. More than just a body kit and stickers. And its the customer service at the dealership that sucks not that of saleen.
...One nice thing about buying and owning a real Saleen is that they absolutely hold their value better than gt's and cobras, with or without kits. Buying one "right" is the key.
