I have a 94 mustang gt with bbk headers x-pipe(no Cats) and 40 series 2 chamber flowmasters. Dont get me wrong, it sounds nice. But ive notice that on newer mustangs ive been hearing them roll by and they have a LOUD CRISP CRACKLING NOISE that just stings my ears. I Love that sound, i just want to know how the hell they get it. Is it a 4.6 liter thing or what?
That crackling noise is the result of an O/R midpipe (probably an H) and usually a straight through muffler. It can be achived with a 5.0 though it might sound a little bit different (not necessarily a bad kind of different either). The setup I am going to be going with on my 01gt is going to make the noise you are referring to. It will have an O/R H pipe and SLP LM1s. If you really wanted to get that sound, you would more than likely have to get rid of the chambered mufflers and go with some sort of straight through type of muffler. Due to my limited amount of knowledge on the 5.0 aftermarket parts, you would have do a little bit of research.

I might sound like a panzy, but I watch reruns of Walker Texas Ranger atleast 2 times a day, and usually 4 or 5 on Monday and Tuesday. I've been watchin him since I was like 8, so its kinda hard not too.

I have spintech mufflers and they achieve that crackling noise whenever I accelerate into a new gear.
