Default Winter Driving

Hey Guys....This is my first Mustang and the first time I have had a car with RWD with no ABS or Traction Control. Are there any tips for winter driving?

TrueTrac
Dunlop M3's
200lbs of sand in the rear

You won't be dissappointed

ps - and a little sensibility goes a long way... go half as fast as you think you can go and don't feel bad if you're in the right lane with your flashers on... Most people will understand. And don't hit the brake. Slowly ease into it. And pump it if you have to - don't peg it to the floor if no ABS

i agree with the "PS-" and on... i cant afford truetrac, new tires, or sand bags (well i prolly could afford the sand bags but i dont want to"- but today was bad and i managed to get around... pics to follow:

but yeah, just take it slow and easy... and like he said most will understand becasue it is a mustang after all... not ment for winter driving. and i cant stress the breaks and acceleration enough... you have to ease into it or you'll go spinning into a brick mailbox or something big that will damage your car badly (it wouldnt be ANYONES luck to just slide into a ditch and do no damage)

this was looking outside after opening the front door...

somewhere in this picture is an 05' black mustang-- tell me if you see it!

I had a 92 thundberbird with RWD no ABS etc. and now I have the mustang. I always took my time, left extra room and watched out for the other idiots. Put sand bags in the trunk and it shouldn't be a problem.

On the plus side, find a empty parking lot and have some fun.

Good advice here but that won't stop me from adding my two cents. First thing to do is to discard the fantasy that the car turns when you turn the steering wheel, accelerates when you hit the gas and decelerates when you mash the brakes. Those are merely your suggestions to the car, enforced by whatever traction your tires can give you. Imagine a nearly full open cup in your cupholder, drive in a way that won't spill a drop, and you'll be in good shape. That includes planning ahead for avoiding other drivers who aren't as careful; no point hitting them even if they are at fault.
