ok im using stock ported heads they have bin shaved 50 thou for 10:1 compression, the cam im using is 216*/224*, .533/.544, and 114 LCA some people said i would have problems with detonation even befor a 8lbs blower, if i put in a 80 thou copper head gasket would that drop the compression enuff and how much do you think it would drop thanks alot
To calculate your comp. ratio, take cylinder dispalcement (bore squared x stroke x pi / 4) in cc's ( x 16.387064), add quench area (are of piston to deck height + gasket thickness + or - piston dish/dome) then add chamber volume and divide what you have by the chamber volume.
what i would do is get a methanol kit. its like spraying ~110octane and the boost will be a lot cooler which will fight detonation. i have 9.6:1 compression ratio with 12psi of boost and no ping at all. i need to lean it out and add more timing tho

My methanol tank lasts about 2 tanks of gas. With 1 gallon of methanol at $1.85 gallon, I make 2 gallons of 50/50 mix. That will fill my meth tank ~4 times. So 1 gallon of meth should do you for ~8 tanks of gas. Of course it's all based on how much you get into the boost. You'll use it at a much faster pace in the beginning just playing around. But my car is a street car and I drive it fairly conservative (as conseravitive as a >600rwhp car can be). I also run dual meth nozzles though since I'm at a higher rwhp.
I run a Snow Performance Stage 2 kit with dual nozzles. Check Summit Racing.
