I just got a 2003 GT and i've got a question, is anyone else a little disapointed with the mach 460 stereo? I can only put the bass about half-way up before the speakers start crackeling, and even with it at half I can't turn it up past about 3/4 or the same happens. another thing I've noticed is a clunking noise when I'm in reverse then I push in the clutch.

Every "stick" car I've ever driven makes that noise sometimes when u put it in reverse , just try to let the car sit for a second or two then put it in reverse fast this seemed to help me with the stang. The 460sound system is a p.o.s I had the car for 2days , and blew out the front 2 speakers so I now have all aftermarket speakers in the car.

I'm somewhat disappointed in the Mach 460 also. Like yellowstang, I'll probably wind up replacing the speakers. I like the stockhead unit (although, the dsp processors are junk) and the amps seem powerful enough. But, the rear woolfers seem to bottom out pretty easy. I also picked up a 2003 GT with the MACH 460. I replaced the whole system right away. I had a lot of high end stuff from my last car. The Mach 460 system sounds like a screeching cat compared to any real decent system.

Shoulda bought the Mach 1000 option <IMG src=smileys/smiley16.gif border="0">. Same here, the 460 is more than i expected from a stock stereo... if i blow speakers, ill get new ones... Custom stereos fit into the rice category<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

I agree with muskrat, its way more than I expected. If you try to listen to hardcore rap on it, then you will probably get distortion more easilythan listening to some good ole country or soft rock...It freakin jams to rock! I disagree that a sound system makes a vehicle "rice." I think that a good sound system in a ride annoys people who dislike it for the simple fact that it's not what they are into. Put a system in a Vette, or Viper...it's still AMERICAN MUSCLE. If you don't care for changing the stereo good. If you want to go for it.</P>

Say what you will,everyone on this forum knows that I am not a die hard Mustang fan. I am an adrenaline junky. Well maybe you don't, so let me tell ya, before I bought my GT, I almost bought a WS.6 T/A.I was sold on the SLP Firehawk option too.The only reason I got my GT is because I was able to get an '02 Premium package special ordered car on the A Plan. I saved $10k, &amp; was able to keep my Gixxer. &amp; I am not a ricer in disquise...my crotch rocket would make anything YOU own look very very VERY slow. I don't care where the $#%@ing vehicle was made. I like performance. There is a difference between a "ricer," &amp; an IMPORT.</P>

I'm not dissing you for your preference on the sound system you like, I was displaying my preference on a nice sound system over a cheap stock factory stereo. i love a great system, having owned a car audio shop for 4 years i truely appreciate them. my latest stang had the mach and it was scraped 30 minutes after i had the title. i run clarion fold out in the dash and infinity perfect 6.1 in the doors and kick pods, 2 perfect10s ported andtuned at 54htz with orion reds (2 hcca 250s and a 2100) . i have owned mustangs for quite some time and i am definitely not a ricer. i like rap and techno too. a ricer is one with an ignorant state of mind, and if you pass judgement based on music or sound system preference, then you are in my opinion a ricer. </P>

look pretty much any factory system is gonna suck, no matter waht the hell car or what system...its not gonna be top of the line which is what you want...i hve the mach system...yes its on a 99 but i had the bass crossovered so that minimal bass hit my speaker, and i still blew one, unless you are buying a luxury yes i hate to say it but...import....such as bmw or benz ...i think audi too...your sound system is gonna suck...so domestics, you better makes some friends at an car audio shop if you wanna bump

throw that mach 460 in the trash. its not worth it. just replace everything it will sound a whole lot better.[:'(]

It sounds better in the conv. due to the position of speakers, but I've got a coupe and it sounds like **** at times and other times better. I've also noticed that when I get home at 9-10 at night and go out at 7 in the morning I start up the car and the whole system sounds distorted and I press the DSP button twice to the all seats menu and go to either driver or rear seats and back to all seats I can hear this loud crack go through all of the speakers and it then sounds fine. Personally when I have the money and patience I'm going to replace all the factory **** and put in a Alpine deck, Polk speakers, and a Inf. Kappa Perfect or Kicker Comp VR sub in the trunk.
