So, one of the guys I go to school with has a rich family. His daily driver is a VW Bug M5, I could probably beat it through the 60ft on FOOT, but his dad has a '00 Cobra R that he drives to school every once in a while. Well, he wants a peice of the SS. I think we're going to run 'em this weekend. I don't think he's the best driver in the world, so I got 'em beat on that front. I think the Cobra R's come with 385bhp right? So we're about even on that front, but he'll probably have me beat weight wise. The R's weigh in at about 3300-3400, I think. My car's GVWR is 3715 lbs, so I can't weigh any more than 3500lbs. I think it'll be a good race. What do y'all think?
UPDATE
Well, we ran 'em Friday afternoon and I went 2 for 3 on the Cobra R.
Run 1: Heads Up; I launched good and shifted good, didn't even look for the Cobra. Crossed the quarter mark and saw him way back there. It turns out he launched too hard, basically did a burn-out and missed 3rd gear...
Run 2: I gave him the break so that, he could launch better, but he bogged the car down this time, and I got away from him, but he pulled within half a car by the end of the quarter.
Run 3: He launched good this time, but so did I and he got by me in second and after that it was nothing but Cobra taillights...
I asked him to let me drive it, but he said no. Well, I did have fun...

Well, I'm not trying to play around with a Terminator, just a Cobra R. I'm pretty sure I can take him, if due more to my friend's lack of driving than car power. And I should have at least 370 at the crank...
