What all would he have to have done to beat me? I know the GT models from 89-93 were alittle heavier, but dont they run like high 14's to low 15's stock? Anyways, I was coming out of Walmart with my g/f and little brother and I start my car up, its pretty loud (o/r H-pipe and 10 series Flows) and as I was backing out I see this one guy my friend knows and he has the 92GT. Anyways I come up to the light and turn onto the main road and I look up to get over into the center lane and I see him coming up on me fast and get into the left lane and by the time I punch it he is about a car behind me and gaining because he got the jump. Anyways we shut down about 85, well I did anyways and he was ahead by about 2 cars. Could he have won because of the big jump and because I have about 300lbs of extra weight in my car, or did he beat me fair and square?
I talked to my friend who knows the guy with the Stang, he said he doesnt know what all he has done, but he knows he has exhaust and he just swapped out his auto, for a 5spd. After finding this out, I figured I would win, but then he goes on to say the guy has ran mid 8's in the 1/8, so needless to say, I LOSE.
What's the mods the old school GT.....I would never race anyone like that.....Do it from a stop or don't do it....LOL....now he has braggin rights....With both cars in stock trim you should have about a 4-5 carlength advantage.......with a 5 speed coupe...

I dont know the mods he has, I was just trying to get some info on what he would have to have done to beat me. And yeah I'm an auto so I know from a roll I dont have any advantage, but I dont like racing from no where but a stop, but since this guy was trying to show off in front of his friends, I figured I would just punch it. I was jus wondering if since I had about 300lbs extra in my car and he had the jump on me would it be fair? I think not. He was probably going about 60-65 and I was only going about 45 when I hit it, so I dont think it was fair. I seen him and the dude I know and some other guys sitting in a parking lot on my way to work tonight, but none of them came after me. I actually wanna race the whole group from a stop. It consists of that 92GT, an 02 RSX type S, 99 Eclipse GS with most bolt ons and an 05 Scion TC with all bolt ons. I think I can take them all from a stop.
The 5oh guys say a bone stock Lx 5 speed coupe will go 14.1 or 14.0. I dont believe a word of it, but they are lighter. Those cars can be made SO fast for SO cheap. I dont think there is a fox body left without H/C/I anymore. (drastic sarcasm)

LOL....I hear ya....**** back 93 when i was senior in High school, I had a 87 GT....Mods were GT40 Upper and Lower intake, GT40 heads....Flowmaster exhaust, Ram Air intake, and underdrive pulleys and 3.55's and i would get my ass handed to me on a daily basis by one of my classmates who's father bought him a brand new 93 Z28 automatic.....I will never forget it....He beat my a$$ 4 times in one day in front of the whole school....I sold my GT 2 months later and left for college....LOL.. So if i couldn't beat a stock low 14 second car with those mods....I'm sure a stock LX 5.0 wouldn't be anywhere close.....LOL....But i totally understand where your coming from..
When I was completely stock with my 88 mustang GT convertible 5.0 I turned a 14.5 @ 95.86 in the 1/4 mile. Now with just bolt ons listed in sig I am turning low 14's with street tires. My best sixty foot is 2.09 or something like that. So for you to say he should have beat him 4 to 5 carlengths is crazy. With some nitto's I am pretty sure I will be in the 13's. Now my brother also has a 88 mustang GT hatchback and he went a 13.8 in the 1/4 bone stock one time, but he could never duplicate it. He usually turns 14.0's stock. Now with boltons he is turning 13.5 @ 102 with nitto's. I do agree that and 01 GT is faster than a 92GT stock but maybe by a carlength and thats it. If he has a 5speed coupe, which is the lightest mustang that weight around 3000 pounds or lighter and you have a 01 automatic, it is a drivers race.

BS..An airplane couldn't drag a 87-93 GT/LX 5.0 to a 13.8 bone stock....The best time i've seen anywhere was a 14.7@95 and the guy blew his engine on that run.....Those cars are very very high 14's with absolutely perfect conditions. A 99+GT will totally rape a old school 5.0 with both in stock trim....
BS my ass. You can believe it or not who cares what you believe. Just because you have been watching some sorry ass driver's were you come from, doesn't mean we can't drive around here.

I would think that 13.8 on a fluke run and 14.0 for the norm is a liiiittle too quick for those cars (225 peak hp?) and 14.7 has got to be too slow to be the fastest stocker around. But then I'm not the world's leading authority on 5.0's.
