Honestly, I am tired of getting complaints from regular members about people who seem to join only to tell us how fast a Cobalt is or how fast they think it could be with a certain combinations of mods.
That's great. I'm thrilled that they are not complete turds but the fact is that this is a Mustang forum. We try to welcome everyone and most of us are interested in other cars as well but this "trolling" activity is unacceptable.
Therefore, starting this afternoon, I am going to begin banning the IP addresses of those who I feel are trolls.....and maybe a couple of others too......just because it annoys me that I have to spend part of my afternoon sorting out this stupid crap.

Well I am sorry you gentlemen feel that way, however I doubt there would be any problems if people acted a little more mature about this whole "retarded" thread. Seriously, read through some of these posts and look at how these people are responding. I've never once talked down about the Mustang, only showed my timeslips and video clips to demonstrate that there are people who can actually drive decently. But when people start bashing what you drive soley based on a few idiots who act like immaturely then you know what? It reflects on the entire forum. I had a 98 Mustang GT w/ Stg II PnP PI heads, VT stg II cams, Mach 1 pistons, BBK L/T's, H-pipe, SLP catback w/ other bolt ons tuned by JMS via X-calibrator I so I know a thing or two about the modular Mustangs. And like I said before, it's really a shame to hear people I used to converse with act this way simply because another vehicle is different that the Mustang. LS1 forums don't have thread upon thread bashing the Cobalt, heck Fordpower.net and Mustangexhaust.com used to be my stomping grounds and they were all supportive when I had to get rid of my Mustang for the Cobalt for emissions reasons and College. I even post in the SRT-4 forums and you know what? When I ran a 13.85 on street tires w/ $300 in mods they gave me props...sure there are some SRT-4's that have run that bone stock...but at least they are kind enough to issue credit where credit is due. And I've seen a few people on this forum who can act like their head isn't above the clouds and believe me, them keeping it real is appreciated. We have regular posters on the Cobalt forum who own Mustangs and they are very welcomed. They are sure to put people who doubt the Mustangs potential in their place and we thank them for it. It's just a shame when people have to talk down on you because of what you drive, because I didn't pay for $20k for my car, because it's the Cavalier's successor, because it's not RWD or a V8. I bought the Cobalt because I am trying to get through college and get my degree, it gets over 30mpg so I save on gas, and it's very street friendly. The mustang was just something that was not suitable for me anymore. I don't see how those reasons would justify me being less of a gear-head or a ricer.
Just last night the first Cobalt went into the 12's on slicks, with no motor work or bolt ons to the motor except a pulley and a Maf-T for tuning, even the intake was stock. We're all excited as a community, and things will only get better. Like I said in another post, it all comes down to people who like to work on cars because it's their passion..whether it be a Mustang, Cobalt, VW bug, Geo Metro, whatever. If I get banned for this post then so be it, but at least know there are Cobalt owners who aren't arrogant or in denial about cars that are faster...I just hope there are some people on this forum who share the same characterisitics.

I totally agree with you 100%. Ever since I have posted on this forum, I have never once downgraded a Stang for what it is or its ability. While looking for cars, a GT was one that I was looking to get. I just didn't choose it because of the cost and insurance I would have had to pay on it, and I mean when this lease is up, I am considering a Cobra, so why would I bash a Stang. But you know it's beyond ridiculous that because of the car I have people bash it. Any of forum that I have gone to and talked about my car has never had a problem with it and I don't see why we should have the same problem. Just because people come on here and make a fool of themselves when they drive the same car I drive, doesn't mean I am the same way. Everyone on here bashed Cobalts so much and said you'll rarely see a stock SS/SC below 15's and I told everyone i'd post slips when I go to the track and show them that with a decent driver you'll hit mid 14's. Well I did and made a post in the street/strip and 10 minutes later my thread was deleted because of the type of car I have. You have people in that section posting slips for there Camaro's, TA's, Honda and all and I made one and it got deleted. I'm not in any way mad for what happened but people said that it didn't have the ability to do so and when done and slips posted, it shouldn't be deleted. And as you said there is a few number fo people on here who don't act like their head isn't above the clouds, but there also a lot who think there **** doesn't stink. And like tofu said just because my car took over for a Cavalier doesn't mean I don't know anything about car or that I am a Ricer for my type of car. And like I have said before, I don't think my car is the fastest thing out there or faster than Stangs, but credit has to be given where credit is due.

Just put it like this, he has about $23,000 into the car that runs high 12's, and a GT starts at $26,000 for Base model that will run a mid to high 13, and a GTO starts at $33,000 that will run a low to mid 13. And yes I know if you put that in the V8, it will outrun it, but he will have less money in it that what you guys bout your car for and still run high 12's. He will have way less into his car and can runs the same numbers you can in yours and pay less. Impressive, not money or time wasting. Like Tofu said earlier, it all comes down to people who like to work on cars because it's their passion..whether it be a Mustang, Cobalt, VW bug, Geo Metro, whatever.

No, my point was that you've spent $2800 to get to the 12's. High 12's I would imagine, I didn't read the post. Now get it into the 11's. Whats that going to take? Another $5,000? Put it this way, I put my '99 GT into the 11's with about $2800. And I got to drive a V8 Convertible Mustang, that looked and sounded great. And hauled ass when I felt the need.

But for some reason, I manage to understand that I want to go fast. Not put money into a 4 cyl and go a little faster. Then you have to drive a Cobalt. Which is fine with most people.

Well I do know that he is waiting on 60lbs injectors to run his 2.5" pulley and that will take him down to maybe mid 12's. What his other plans are, I don't know.

And yes it's easier to modifiy a V8 than a 4banger. I was going to throw a bunch of money in my Cobalt, but I decidied not to because I have a 83 Camaro that I am building for drag and would rather put my money into it.

ive seen a stage 0 srt-4, with a homemade intake, weight reduction, and 15 inch DRs run in the 12s. no "pulley or tuning"...
yes, a slobalt SS may be able to keep up with a stage 0 srt4, but with a good driver, the srt4 will win, yet it may still be close...plus, the srt4 is evidently far more accepting of mods than the cavabalt, because the srt4 crowd, as a whole, is much faster...

The whole arguement wasn't for the New GT's, it was 99-04 Models. Also you will nor or did see me say I'd beat an SRT-4. I have race one from a dig, and he beat me by a car and from a roll he beat me by a car and a 1/4, but from the roll he had an intake. From a dig, I haven't beat a GT but from a roll I have.

How can you be so narrow minded? I didn't brag about the Cobalt hitting 12's, I was implying how it was a first and a sign of greater things to come. Of course an SRT-4 is going to be "more accepting" of mods because it is turbocharged, not supercharged...there are far more components in a turbo system that can be replaced for something better and more efficient. They've been around since 2003, two years ahead of the game in aftermarket. And where does the SRT-4 even come up in this thread anyway....
I've posted videos, and my timeslips....if you want still want to act like jerk and live in your own little world than do so. I'm done preaching to the choir. You should come over to the forums sometime and post your videos or timeslips...you'll probably get some compliments, not "what a piece of sh*t rustang".
