Default 15"x10" rims on foxbody

Does anybody know if they will fit without mods? I'm told the rim has a 61/2" backspace and with a 7/16 spacer it will work fin. Also what size tire is recomended?

I have always heard a 10' wheel can be squeezed onto the rear of a Fox Body, but have not seen one in person. I know you will need to rotate the quad shock at least. I had 17'x8's on my '85 GT and have no doubt I could have gone with 9's knowing what I know now.

You can confirm clearance on your own carby parking on a bottom of a steep driveway at a 45 degree angle and completely articulating the rear axle (bury one side up until it hits the bump-stop). You then measure clearance to all points around tire/wheel ON BOTH SIDES OF CAR and see what room you have left. You then do the math against your current tires/wheels and figure out how much more you can go in either direction. You will also undoubtedly need to roll the fenders. I bet you can do it, as I am running 18'x10's (f) & 18'x11's (r) on my '02 GT. Different models, of course, and also completely different aftermarket suspension on my car, but far wider than the stock 7' on the base model of '02 Mustang.

I was toldthat the rims were off a foxbody and that the spacers gave it enough clearance and he said something about drag slick on it was fine but flipping the quad shock was need on street tires. does that sound right?

It sounds correct, but you need to confirm in casethis personis mistaken, or worse, not being honest.

If you are going to run spacers, 7/16' as mentioned in OP, you will need to replace the rear studs to accomodate the extra thickness and remain safe. I have done this to install my 11's as the back-space/off-set was not going to work once I had them widened from 10.5's. I actually installed spacer and longer studs sometime earlier to bring the wheel out to the edge of the fender. I then had the extra room for 1/2' of wheel, so I sent them to Weldcraft Wheels and had them cut and widened. You can see what I mean in my 'Toyo R888's' sig pic

i'm running 17 x 9s with a 1" spacer in the back of mine. so i would assume that with the correct backspacing, a 10" would fit.

oh, i did have to remove the quad shocks even without the spacer. and i had to roll the fender lip with the spacer.

Thanks 88

Did you have to REMOVE or just rotate the quad-shocks?

You have posted that info prior and was in the back of my mind somewhere. Now if he will be so kind as to give you his back-spacing measurement, you can do the math and find rims that will work (be sure to ask nicely as he can be ornery if crossed ). Rolling the fender is no biggy as I have done it to all four on my ride.

i had to remove the quad shocks, flipping them didn't give me enough clearance.

oops, i knew i forgot something. my backspacing is 6.02", and the offset is +26mm

dammit!!! forgetting stuff makes me even more ornery than when i'm crossed.

Classic, 88 [sm=lol.gif]

As for MUSKRAT, are those the wheels you plan to install? I haven't measured a $10 bill lately, but seems about right based on our latest info above.

The back-space of my 11's is6~7/8', but my '02 hasmore '-' off-set than you and doesnot even include the 1/2' spacer. I am running 7~3/8' total and haven't confirmed inside space, but should be zero when axle is fully articulated. If I wanted the wheels to stick out beyond fender, I could probably go 11.5' or possibly even more. No way will I do that as it would look like [:'(]

Good luck and post lots of pics along with anything special required as I want to save this thread for reference to others with same question

the 10 dollar bill was the only thing i had left after buy them at that time i couldn't find my tape measure. i know it was ghetto but it shows some size reference, the bill was like 6 1/8" i think. the stickers on the inside say that the back space is 61/2" show i'm assuming its right. going out of town this weekend but will checkem out this coming week with more pics. thanks for you guys help.
