RE: bi-xenon vs. hi/lo HID? which is better?
bi xenon is what you want to go with if your ok with spending a few extra bucks. it also requires 4 ballast/ignitors to be hooked up for them to work
bi xenon is two HIDs on each bulb so your high and low are both HID
Hi/low can be a single bulb hid system that has a mechanism in the base to physically angle the light differently for the high beam when you kick em on. There is also atype with amechanical apparatus that is around the single bulb that then angles and deflects the same light to create a high beam. Also there is one more type that has a single fixed hid bulb and a single fixed halogen bulb above it to act as a high beam.

Ya, iw as about to post a thread asking a simular question. I dont like the stock bulbs. They are not bright. I want something brighter but not HID cuz i dont want to spend that much money. My uncle said that Sylvania (spelling) makes a bulb that is really bright. ANy ideas?

I bought silverstar ultras for $50, and I took them back because I didnt think they were worth it. If I'm gonna spend $50, I might as well spend $200 more and be satisfied and happy. Thats my philosophy.
Also, I'm not getting projectors because I dont want to and I dont know how the HIDs will work with stock headlights.
I have heard they produce glare with normal lights but no glare with projectors.
Thoughts?

i almost bought from that site because they are cheap and 3 year warranty.
but...cheap. not what i wanted to get when i was looking for an HID kit. i paid $285 shipped for my bi-xenon kit for the stock housings. yes the HID kits DO suck in the aftermarket headlights,
and they are better in stock OEM housings, but still not good enough for me.
if you want THE best lighting period, get yourself a set of the projector lights and some 4300k or 5000k HIDs. the projector kits for our cars have separate halogen high-beams, so you could use
a silverstar if you wanted or get two HID kits, one for the projectors, and one for the high beams. i plan to upgrade eventually. i have 8000k HIDs now, and while the color looks really nice, i do a bunch of late-night canyon runs and they just aren't bright enough for PITCH BLACK night usage in the forest/canyons. if you never go out in to the boonies and stay within rural, city areas 8000k would be the highest temp i would go. anything after 6000k is a waste of money and is for SHOW only. you might as well get some colored halogen bulbs off ebay for 5 bucks.
