94-98s had 2.73 gears stock, GTs and Cobras had a 3.08 and 3.27 gear option via special order. GTs, in 94/95 had a 3.55 gear option via special order on a SVO GT-40.
99-04s had 3.27s both sixer and GT.
05+ have 3.55s on the GTs, not sure what the new sixers have, I'd assume 3.45s, but for this post it really doesn't matter.
IMO a gear swap is not something an inexperianced person should attempt. The shims and spacing must be 100% accurate or else kiss your rear end goodbye. A shop screws up, they buy your parts, you F up and you pay the bill.

I am not going to open up a rear end and swap out gears or anything like that myself, I am going to swap out the rear end though. I have done shocks, etc. before and I am sure that I can do that much.
I need to track down a cobra rear end now, I dont want to grab a gt one and have the same gear ratio when I can get a cobra and for sure have a diffrent/better one.
What price range would I be looking at for a cobra rear end? Assuming that I dont have to pay the extra couple hundred to get it reconditioned.

^ +1 But wouldn't it be hard to just narrow out a 96-98 cobra rear just to get the 3.27's in it?

True, I am mostly want to do this for the Posi and I may get a diffrent gear set out of the deal. I dont plan on going F/I anytime soon but if I do its good to know that I got a strong rear end to work with.
