Default The fiat

got it started finally

after replacing many wires after it catching on fire, i finally got it to start. and it runs like its brand new. but.....

the fuel pump is bad i think. im gonna clean it, because it doesn't pump any fuel while i crank it. maybe the line is clogged. if so, i'll get an air compressor and blow the line out.

If can't fix. If cost for new one is bad. What about a external electric one. Reasonable cost for a small low fuel use like this and MG"s. Just get as close to gas tank as possible. Run wire and fuse it properly. Just hook two lines of motor fuel pump together if that is the kind it has. Just make sure of fuel pressure when ordering it. The Midget is a low,low pressure one. Never as can remember less than 5psi. One for say a Ford or Chevy carb type maybe to much and blow open the flost. Glad to hear running. Wiring on some of these car can be a nightmare. I hear Italian cars are bad.

ya. the gas tank is a work of art i think. it has 3 lines running to the front of thte car

(two come from the top, by the sending unit) and one comes from the vapor canister.

idk which one provides pressure to the carb tho.

but im defintly going with a 6 psi pump

my family has had 3 124's so far. and never again. They are fun as hell, handle amazing. But you will soon find out how they got FIAT = Fix it again tony.

Lots of work, and if you plan on putting aftermarket wheels on it easiest thing to do is grab a set of wobbly bolts. The bolt patter they have is odd, so unless you want to shell out bank for some wheels then get the addapter bolts.

im guessing that the carb has a return line also then, and thats what the second one is coming from the sending unit. so what would the vapor canister line be for? it goes to a filter. its been rainign for a week now, so i havn't gotten a chance to get under it yet.

Lucky! I looked at two Fiat 2000's (124 Spider basically) in my area, but both were in bad shape for their asking prices. And about reliability or lack thereof, when I researched Fiats, everyone I talked to said that the cars are only marginally less reliable than your average car, and the only time they are a pain are when people don't keep up on maintenance. They also told me that the simplicity of working on them makes up for the unreliability. I've wanted a Fiat for a long time, but other priorities are holding me from getting one... or an Alfa Romeo. Check out international-auto.com. They have lots of parts for Fiat, Alfa, Lancia, and other Italians.

I Looked at two 2000's, an 850, and an X1/9 Bertone. I didn't even get to drive them though . They were all pretty rusty and beat up too. Oh well, some day I'll get my Italian sportscar.
