on the topic of voiding your warranty, i thought that you could install your own parts (i.e. cai and tune, or exhaust) and if something for instance messed up on their part like something in the engine, the cai you installed won't void your warranty since it didn't have anything to do with it. is that true? because if this stuff is going to void my warranty, i might as well not buy anything.

man, if your scared, just wait til your warranty is out....

Me personally, i would have bought the car brand new without a warranty, if they would have knocked off 5 grand off the price. They have that built into the new car price... thats one of the reasons the value of the car tanks when you leave the dealer.... my car hasnt been to the dealer since it left...almost 2 years, not even for the air bag recall.... take it in for the recall and go home with several door dings from the professional staff in the service shop.... no thanks...

Yes it is true...

If you go in with motor issues (as in internal) and you have a CAI/tune and exhasut, you are going to have a rough row to hoe. If you have a very good relationship with your dealer, they MAY cover it...but they can EASILY send you packing, and as Ford tightens the belt even more - they will.

To be safe, get an FRPP exhaust. Mine was $700 installed. It is TOP NOTCH...and in most opinions here, the best exhaust available for the six at any cost.

You can do your own CAI and tune and if you need major work done, just switch it back to stock.

FYI, my dealer would do the FRPP CAI and tune installed for $480. It is a nice setup as well, but I like my S&B and Diablo setup better. I do have FRPP as they look awesome, sound incredible and my warranty will never be in question.

one more question on the warranty issue. if i shop around for my own parts, like cai or exhaust and pay THEM to install it, then something goes wrong; will they still cover me? the reason im so concerned is because i upgraded to the best warranty they had, and i'd really like to make sure it covers me until it runs out.

p.s. the frpp exhaust stands for ford racing parts, right?

You may want to find out if the warranty will be any good after Ford goes belly up.

FRPP = Ford Racing Performance Parts, yes.

And as far as getting an aftermarket part and having them install it...I don't think they would still consider your warranty intact. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt that just because the dealer installs the part that you would keep your warranty.

Ughh...it is simple.

You MUST use FRPP parts and you MUST have an authorized FRPP dealer install them.

It is pretty simple. I know my dealer will sell you the whole thing for $916. There is no way your dealer can claim it takes 10 hours to warrant the $600 install.

So, offer them $1300 firm and tell them you will go elsewhere. They will take it and you never have to worry about your warranty...especially if you forked over an extra grand or two for it.
